  • Ill informed hype

Host fundamentally misunderstands what AI technology is and the role it plays in society. The podcast misses all the real and current risks and focuses on the ones which are inevitable with any technology breakthrough. Listen if you want to catch up on where the AI fear was in the general public a year ago but don’t bother if you want to learn anything.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The world’s biggest problem
Q: Your understanding of the control problem and the alignment problem, could you just give us really simple definition of both?
Alignment is making sure the AI's goals match human values, while control is the ability to steer or shut down the AI and prevent it from doing things we don't want, even if it isn't aligned.
A nation of geniuses
Q: What can be done to steer AGI development responsibly?
Build independent oversight, time horizon measures to assess autonomy, and robust institutions that guide behavior and alignment across organizations.
A nation of geniuses
Q: How worried should we be about AGI risk?
Opinions vary, with some experts estimating a real risk within a few decades and others suggesting more optimistic timelines; the important point is to develop governance and safety measures now.
