  • Great info without being preachy

This is a great podcast for information and tips on getting on the road to a healthier diet. Dr. Black has done the research for you and gets to the point of what’s best for your kids health. Yes she points out things I am doing that are big No-No’s, but she does it in a way that is not preachy. I don’t feel demeaned or like I’m a bad Mom. She gave me a few great ideas to help get back on track and out of the fast food lanes. Thank you Dr. Black! I’m defiantly going to keep listening!

HealthQuest: Using Gamified Learning to Build Healthy Habits in Kids with April Jones, CPNP
Q: What is CAPWA and why is it central to HealthQuest?
CAPWA is a 'we-ness' concept that emphasizes communal support and shared humanity in health care. It expands the focus beyond physical health to include emotional, social, and spiritual well-being, ensuring that change happens as a unit rather than as a solitary effort.
HealthQuest: Using Gamified Learning to Build Healthy Habits in Kids with April Jones, CPNP
Q: How does the gamified experience adapt to different ages and goals?
The system asks a barrier assessment for both the parent and child, then assigns journeys tailored to each person's responses. It adjusts formats based on age group and goals, creating separate paths for younger children and older kids to ensure the content is appropriate and effective.
HealthQuest: Using Gamified Learning to Build Healthy Habits in Kids with April Jones, CPNP
Q: Tell me about the mission of HealthQuest. What was your inspiration to start it, and why is a gamified version important for kids and families?
HealthQuest was created to address the gap in health literacy at a younger age, using engaging, family-centered learning that leverages gamification to support actual behavior change rather than placing sole responsibility on the individual. The platform assesses barriers, tailors quests, and aligns with developmentally appropriate activities so families can work together toward healthier habits.
