The Workplace Productivity Trap - Dynamic Work Design wirth Nelson Repenning MIT OrgDev Episode 99
Q: What role does observing the work play in diagnosing and fixing problems?
Observation (go see the work) is foundational; it reveals mismatches and hidden bottlenecks that people who only rely on reports miss. It helps teams map how work moves between people and identify where processes break down.
The Workplace Productivity Trap - Dynamic Work Design wirth Nelson Repenning MIT OrgDev Episode 99
Q: How can leaders begin implementing these ideas without provoking resistance?
Leaders should start incrementally: identify the biggest source of chaos, formulate a clear problem statement, scope it down, and fix one piece at a time to create tangible wins. This lowers risk, builds evidence, and generates momentum for broader change.

Q: What is dynamic work design and why does it matter now?
Dynamic work design is about treating the world as dynamic and structuring problems, processes, and governance to keep work moving despite uncertainty, rather than clinging to fixed plans. It emphasizes solving the right problem, designing for discovery, connecting the human chain, regulating flow, and visualizing the work to surface issues early.
The Real Reason Strategy Fails with Stefan Cousquer - OrgDev Episode 98
Q: What was your path into Organisation Development?
Stefan describes a personal journey driven by coaching, lifelong learning, and a decision to align his career with enabling systems change, including a pivotal master's in sustainability and experiences at BP that highlighted the importance of hosting difficult conversations and power dynamics.
Leadership in Complex Systems with Dr Jean Boulton - OrgDev Episode 97
Q: What advice would you give someone starting out in organization development?
Be true to your own thinking, find like-minded people from diverse backgrounds, and learn by doing, with an emphasis on developing judgment and authentic leadership rather than chasing fixed frameworks.
