I found this after just learning in therapy that I come from a narcissistic family dynamic with my moms protected feelings at the center.
Your episode on grieving the mom you never got and accepting what you do have including people who have filled in that role helped me immensely.
While mom hasn’t changed. I feel free from her hold on me. Thank you for showing me how to be free.
All of this and worse happened to me. My sister had a breakdown while helping me to move her into a care home and clearing out her house. Be aware it will be a nightmare. I didn’t realise that narcissistic people don’t plan. But looking back on her life she only ever reacted. So we had to do all the planning and execution of packing up and the selling/gifting her things which man did she react very badly to.
