  • Great podcast! Too many ads.

Talia is so insightful and I learn so much but sometimes it feels like there are about 15 minutes of ads in the middle of a podcast.

  • Couple thoughts

I do love the advice on here. I do think the shift to more relationship stuff is helpful. I feel like I’ve listened to most of it and people dating and relationships is two different places to be. So its nice now that being a relationship you are also giving advice on that..cause we evolve at some point hopefully. I listened to the 3 rules of dating episode..and only thing is Thalia, you interject yourself too much in the guest speaking and always bring it back to yourself almost bragging..not e... more

  • Apologizing for men

There’s a general stance in this podcast of being accommodating and tolerant of men’s low effort and/or problematic behavior, which is easy to do in your 20s and 30s when you haven’t yet spent a decade or more in an asymmetrical relationship that’s sucking you dry (and you realize you have no one to blame but yourself and your willingness to do all the emotional labor and accommodation for far too long). Being in a miserable marriage in your 40s and 50s or deciding you need to start over at that... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

257. What Reality TV Says About Dating Culture (And What We Can Learn) w/ Dear Shandy
Q: How should someone handle a dating situation where travel or lifestyle preferences clash after several months?
Have an honest, compassionate conversation about long-term goals and whether compromises are feasible, recognizing that at seven months it may still be possible to adjust, but at some point lifestyle differences become deal-breakers if core needs like travel are non-negotiable.
255. Why You Feel More Anxious When You Like Someone (And What To Do) w/ Rebecca Ore
Q: Why does anxiety spike when we start liking someone, and how can we begin to understand that pattern?
Anxious attachment often stems from insecurities and beliefs formed early in life; recognizing that the fear is about one's relationship to themselves helps, and you can begin by slowing down, grounding, and separating thoughts from the actual situation to test what is true.
253. How The Creator of Burned Haystack Method Found Love on Hinge w/ Dr. Jennie Young
Q: What should male listeners take away from this about improving dating outcomes?
The guest and host emphasize listening to women's concerns in other domains, cultivating empathy and understanding, and focusing on character rather than performance on apps as the key to better dating experiences.
253. How The Creator of Burned Haystack Method Found Love on Hinge w/ Dr. Jennie Young
Q: How does Burned Haystack apply beyond dating apps?
Jennie describes using the method in real life, including workplace and family dynamics, and notes its role in domestic violence recovery and prevention, showing the broad applicability of pattern recognition and strategic communication.
253. How The Creator of Burned Haystack Method Found Love on Hinge w/ Dr. Jennie Young
Q: What inspired the focus on 33 rhetorical patterns in the book and how were they selected?
Jennie explains that patterns emerged organically from thousands of profiles and messages; they narrowed an initial 50 down to 33 because those were the ones repeatedly observed across many users, providing a practical framework rather than a theoretical list.
