  • New format needs work

I was a fan of Danny in the Valley but the new format is not yet delivering. It feels like 15 min of content for 1 hr of listening. The presenters are v professional but talking to each other is not as compelling as hearing them interview tech practitioners.

Please rethink - good talent being wasted here.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

OpenAI's rogue agent and Silicon Valley’s China problem
Q: Where do you see MeatLayer and agent-enabled marketplaces going in the next few years?
He envisions a trajectory where agents increasingly automate coordination and service delivery, reducing friction between tasks and execution, potentially creating a broader gig economy run by agents with humans as enabling layers, while noting current constraints and the gradual pace of adoption.
OpenAI's rogue agent and Silicon Valley’s China problem
Q: What did you do before MeatLayer, and how did you get the idea for the company?
James Morgenstern explains a prior background in building and selling tech startups, then describes how he saw AI capabilities accelerate and conceived MeatLayer as a way to test whether AI agents could effectively manage humans to perform real-world tasks, starting from a thought experiment and growing through community engagement.
PayPal’s Max Levchin on Donald Trump, Elon Musk and mega-IPOs
Q: And I'd love to understand, because you're an OG of Silicon Valley, how does this moment compare to the dot-com era in terms of risk and opportunity?
Levchin argues that while the scale and speed feel amplified today, the core dynamics—founder ambition, the push to build, and the need for disciplined execution—are familiar. The current wave accelerates execution and market formation, but it also demands more attention to governance and long-term viability.
BONUS: How to turn AI pilots into real business value
Q: How should leaders decide where to start with AI, given the five redesign areas you identified (infrastructure, data, people, governance, and financial measurement)?
Begin by defining a precise objective with trade-offs, then address all five areas in concert to create an operating model that can sustain AI-driven changes across the business.
BONUS: How to turn AI pilots into real business value
Q: Why do so many AI pilots fail, and what are the biggest barriers to scaling?
Barriers include data quality and governance, unclear ownership and authorization for production, misaligned incentives, and the challenge of integrating AI outputs into existing human and operational workflows.
