  • Good Host & Content

I love that this is dedicated to the over 60 crowd (I’m 76) and I enjoy the host’s personal stories in addition to the interviews. I do find that it takes too much time to get to the purported subject of the podcasts I’ve listened to.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Self Healing with Julie Donnelly
Q: What is referred pain and why is it important for cyclists to understand?
Referred pain occurs when a muscle tightness or nerve pathway causes pain felt away from the actual source; understanding this helps cyclists release the correct muscle groups (like the iliacus and psoas) to relieve pain at joints and reduce the need for masking symptoms.
Self Healing with Julie Donnelly
Q: Tell me how your interests in helping people began.
Julie describes how a sailing accident and ongoing musculoskeletal issues led her to pursue massage therapy, realize the importance of understanding muscles rather than treating symptoms, and eventually develop self-treatment methods that empower clients to reduce pain on their own.
Dr. Kevin Smith on Functional Medicine
Q: Would you talk about how you became interested in helping people maintain health?
Dr. Smith describes his path from chiropractic practice to clinical nutrition and then to functional medicine, emphasizing a shift toward lab testing, prevention, and addressing root causes of disease.
Beverly Meyer Want Us to Eat Like Humans
Q: What foundational changes can people adopt to improve their health?
Fundamentally improving food intake and ensuring quality sleep are essential for health, along with individual adjustments based on personal health needs.
Beverly Meyer Want Us to Eat Like Humans
Q: Can you discuss the importance of vitamins and what common mistakes people make with them?
Many people often ignore their vitamin D status, despite its critical role in bodily functions, and typically settle for being at the lower end of healthy ranges.
