  • Great topic and very interesting

What a catalog and browsing it alone opened my eyes to cults I had never heard of. The shows that immediately attracted me were about JW's. I had an aunt get sucked into when I was a child and never understood why but it caused a ton of conflict within our family and ultimately divorce. I learned a lot from these episodes and now understand it much better. It's a great topic and I plan to listen to other episodes about other cults that I don't quite understand.

  • A very informative podcast

I just listened to the episode about Amway. As someone who was once sucked into an MLM I am always interesting in learning more about this topic and the mentality of those involved in it. The guest was knowledgeable and the hosts were good too.

The only criticism I have is the commercial breaks. They are wonky. When you click play the first thing you hear is a commercial, not the podcaster hooking me in the episode, as a fellow podcaster I think this is a podcasting faux pas. The commercial bre... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

I Was Married to a ‘Messiah’… Until I Escaped
Q: What ultimately led you to leave the cult?
The death of her son and the realization of how the leader manipulated the family and the people around him, combined with years of cognitive dissonance and specific counseling that helped her recognize the cult dynamics, eventually enabling a break from control and relocation to Kauai for safety.
I Was Married to a ‘Messiah’… Until I Escaped
Q: Isabella, how did you get involved with the cult?
She briefly describes the chain: personal tragedy, exposure to a spiritual mentor, and a move to Laguna Hills where she entered training, followed by emotional and physical coercion that intensified over time.
A Cult Survivor Story You Might Not Expect with Anne-Lise (Ex-WWCOG)
Q: How did you transition from seeing religion as a strict framework to a personal spirituality that centers on intuition and consent?
By recognizing the difference between external rules and an internal sense of guidance; I built a three-part psyche model (inner manager, inner child, inner guide) and learned to trust my gut as the source of authentic direction.
A Cult Survivor Story You Might Not Expect with Anne-Lise (Ex-WWCOG)
Q: Anne-Lise, if someone is waking up to their situation, what is the first piece of advice you would give them today?
Honor your feelings and start naming them aloud to yourself; give yourself permission to feel whatever arises as a necessary step toward reconnecting with your inner child and inner guide.
Two Voices, One Exit (Part 1): The JW Elder Who Questioned Everything
Q: What would you say to ex-JWs listening who are considering leaving or questioning their faith?
Ask whether the organization allows them to read its policies without supervision and consider why loyalty is valued over conscience; seek truth that can be examined openly without punishment.
