Really interesting to hear from fellow Canadians across the country and feel connected to each other despite the distance. Ian is a great host and takes on tough topics with ease. He isn’t afraid to question callers and promote thoughtful discussion.

  • Ridiculous podcast

The liberals in Canada are pathetic anti democratic shivs. You used to be a great country. 3rd world country.

  • You need a fact checker

I just listened to the Feb 23 podcast in which Kevin O’Leary claimed that the CAD lost 41% over the nine years that Trudeau has been in power. Did the math myself and it’s 8%. I don’t blame the host, but don’t you have producers who can check stuff like that and relay it to the host? I like the show, but I have to knock a star for that.

  • Great podcast

Found this podcast through Spotify and have quickly gone through previous episodes. I love hearing perspectives from different parts of Canada. The episode on Covid 4-year anniversary was well done. It was a moment to reflect and felt like a collective acknowledgment of a confusing time. Great podcast!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Spotlight: Youth unemployement guide: For parents and kids
Q: What is your advice then for somebody who wants a job at one of your stores and feels demoralized about the labor market?
The employer recommends applying online properly, showing up on time, leaving the phone aside, and being prepared to spend time in-store to understand the workflow; it's about showing commitment and fitting in with the workplace culture.
Youth unemployment: Adulting in a tough economy
Q: What is making it so tough for Hope and other young people to get jobs?
Hope attributes the difficulty to a combination of high competition, limited responses to applications, and reliance on networking, while experts add perspectives on market structure and the role of connections.
Spotlight: E‑Bikes, E‑Scooters, E‑Mopeds: Where Do All These E‑Things Actually Belong?
Q: How safe do you feel riding an e-bike in Ottawa now, and what changes would make you feel safer?
The guest shares that riding in designated multi-use pathways with enforced speed limits (around 20-24 km/h for bikes and scooters) feels safer, and stresses the value of dedicated lanes and real-world path infrastructure to enhance safety.
Spotlight: E‑Bikes, E‑Scooters, E‑Mopeds: Where Do All These E‑Things Actually Belong?
Q: What happens to you if you're a pedestrian and get hit by an e-bike?
The panel notes that pedestrians can pursue accident benefits and that homeowners or tenant insurance may offer personal liability coverage; the discussion emphasizes the complexity and variability of coverage and fault in such scenarios.
Spotlight: E‑Bikes, E‑Scooters, E‑Mopeds: Where Do All These E‑Things Actually Belong?
Q: I'm a guy who's been hit four times by cars. I raced bikes growing up, so I'm not hating bikes. My concern is if I get hit by an e-bike, I could be paralyzed and lose everything. What recourse do I have?
The guest explains that if the rider is hit by a car or vehicle, there can be access to accident benefits and, in some cases, insurance through delivery-platform affiliations; however, if the rider modified the bike to exceed typical speeds or removed pedals, they may be barred from civil claims and face restrictions on recovery.
