Covenant Hermeneutics and Biblical Eschatology

Kim Burgess and Gary DeMar

Theologian Kim Burgess likens systematic theology to dissection and biblical theology to vivisection. While both methods seek to understand what the Bible is saying, one works in bits and pieces, while the other works to understand the Bible as an organic whole. Traditional evangelical interpretations are too often informed by the dissection method and less by vivisection.

I am a blind man with artificial, eyeballs in my head, in other words, I have prosthesis. A lot of people tell me that I may not have eyes, but the spiritual eyes of my heart are opened. this podcast is a blessing, it teaches truth.

This led to me being told to “step down” and leave the church I was leading. More recently I was asked to leave a job with a ministry due to my honesty over where I stand on this issue and this also has lead to real isolation and restriction within my church family. I have always been honest with my pastor and elders about where I stand o... more

  • Good questions. Strong answers.

Appreciate the careful, methodical approach in shining Biblical light on the murky waters of eschatology with a covenant hermeneutic.

Thanks to Gary and Kim for “laying it all out on the table”.

While I don’t yet understand or agree with it all, this podcast is a good and welcomed work.

Amazing to have scripture tied across the Old and New Testament to read it the way it was intended. Scholarly but yet able to follow along.
