The show usually is recorded in a pub--that's why there is some background noise on occasion. The topics can vary widely seeing as the Pugsters have different spheres of knowledge and interest, but common themes which appear regularly include the transcendence ... more

They are often speaking just above my level which is the place where learning happens. I love it. The humour, the friendship, the mutual respect, the wisdom! It’s quickly becoming top of my list of podcasts. A model for all good discussions.

Was a worthy listen. Appreciate his work on Negative world. Would not go to him for questions on theology. I’m a hard “no” on anyone propping up Francis Chan, or Mitt Romney, as examples to be followed.

  • Three Men Talking about God's World and our Place in it

A wonderful show where three wise and educated men talk about God and His world. I have grown in my thinking from this show and have started from the beginning and making my way to the present. I must applaud Chris, Glenn, and Tom for their dedication to this show and sharing the beautiful view of God's enchanted world in which we live. Thank you three very much and God bless you. I will pray for your continued wisdom and teaching as you go through life.

  • Thoughtful

This is not an “every episode” podcast for me. … I mean, who has the time? When a topic is relevant or interesting, I'll listen. And they never disappoint. Their podcasts are thoughtful, informative, and encouraging. It makes me wonder if this is what the conversations between Lewis and Toklin sounded like.

Thickening Our Discernment: Magnifica Humanitas
Q: What's your take on the encyclical and its usefulness for Christians today?
The encyclical provides a framework for discernment, calling Christians to think deeply about human dignity, the common good, and the boundary between technology and humanity, while acknowledging it may not cover every nuance; it should be a launching pad for broader Christian discernment and practical application.
A Conversation with Megan Basham
Q: How do outside funding and foundations influence evangelical discourse, according to your research in the book?
Basham discusses funding mechanisms, think tanks, and the “After Party”/J29 Coalition, explaining how grants can shape messaging, promote nonbiblical political strategies, and influence evangelical leadership.
A Conversation with Megan Basham
Q: What drove the shift from writing for World Magazine to Daily Wire, and how did that affect your reporting on evangelical culture?
She details the move as a strategic decision to write about evangelical issues from outside the evangelical press, driven by the need to scrutinize battles within the evangelical world that she felt were hard to cover from inside.
A Conversation with Megan Basham
Q: Could you tell us a little about what you were doing on Shepherds for Sale and how it came together?
Megan explains the book's motivation, the investigative journey behind the project, and how encounters with open funding, church politics, and media dynamics shaped the reporting and final form.
Brad Birzer Among the Inklings!
Q: How did the Inklings' environment in Oxford enable their collaboration and influence?
The Oxford setting, close living quarters, and regular pub meetings created a tactile community where critique and encouragement were constant, which Birzer argues was crucial to their creative and intellectual output.
