154: Perimenopause Explained: Why Your Body Feels Off (And What Actually Helps) with Dr. Mary Grimberg
Q: What are you doing practically? And also, do you have like one of those aha stories, like where somebody came in and they're like, I got this, this, this, and you know, it's one of those cases where you worked on the scar and all of a sudden the back pain went away?
Practical approaches include diaphragmatic work, releasing fascial restrictions, coordinated breathing, mindful movement, and sensing-based coaching; several cases show pain relief after addressing a fascia or scar-related restriction.
154: Perimenopause Explained: Why Your Body Feels Off (And What Actually Helps) with Dr. Mary Grimberg
Q: I'm curious about the fascia, lymph and nervous system dysregulation. If you can kind of share, what do you mean by fascia? And also, how does this show up?
Fascia is described as a connective tissue network that moves and glides; its restriction can influence lymph flow, histamine regulation, and nervous system tone, with practical implications for reducing pain and improving function during menopause.
154: Perimenopause Explained: Why Your Body Feels Off (And What Actually Helps) with Dr. Mary Grimberg
Q: And you talked about even the anxiety and poor sleep. So I'm curious, did you cycle eventually? Like, do you cycle now or did it?
Her cycles have become regular again, and the discussion centers on how perimenopause can normalize with the right holistic approaches rather than relying solely on medications.
152: Future Fertility: Advancements in IVF and Hope for Tomorrow with Dr. Al Yuzpe
Q: What is your take on Clomid versus Letrozole for ovulation induction today?
Clomiphene started the career and many still value it for certain patients, but Letrozole generally has fewer side effects and a lower risk of multiple pregnancies, making it a preferred initial option for many, with the choice tailored to the individual.
149: Perimenopause, Pelvic Health & Resilience - What Every Woman Needs to Know with Dr. Heidi Gastler
Q: How do you approach the first patient assessment for perimenopausal and menopausal patients, and what tools do you use to ensure they feel seen and heard?
In the first visit I devote a full session to listening to the patient's story, lifestyle, relationships, and stressors. I start with simple, foundational tools tailored to what the patient is willing to try, discuss diet, exercise, and hydration, and identify psychosocial factors. I emphasize pelvic mapping if the patient is comfortable, and I often coordinate with a multidisciplinary team to address pelvic pain, sexual health, neurology, or gastro; the aim is to treat the person as a whole and to create a warm, safe space where the patient feels respected and supported.
