An Evening with Petra Bagust & Niki Bezzant: Navigating Midlife & Menopause

Diving into the Māori Ward with Kahu Paki Paki
Q: What do you think about including information about you in council booklets for the referendum, given you are a living example of this in action?
There was surprise at being elected unopposed and concern about how information is communicated to voters; the absence of Māori Ward candidates from some electoral booklets can mislead voters about representation, underscoring the need for clear, accessible information.
Diving into the Māori Ward with Kahu Paki Paki
Q: So tell me about when you first decided to stand for council. Like if we take it back to them, do you think you would have stood for council had there not been the mechanism of a Māori Ward, and why or why not?
The decision to stand was spurred by community leaders and the context of the Māori Ward; initially I did not seek political office, but the ward created a space where my experience and connection to the community could contribute in a meaningful way, and the support from leaders helped me step forward.
