The content of this show is just fine but I’ve had to stop listening because I feel as if Astead if always yelling. Chill, bruh.
Somehow, Vox decided that the most annoying part of so many of their articles - adding “actually” at the end of article headlines - is what they should use for a brand new podcast in 2026. It appears patronizing and dated.
Hadn’t realized how much I missed Herndon until this dropped. Light, breezy, and constructive. A healing kind of podcast.
I have always enjoyed the incisive and clear reporting provided by Astead. I do not get his personal take I get his clearly thoughtful questions and his fearless but polite asking of the tough questions. I always look forward to his podcasts and his interviews with other hosts. I can hardly wait for this new offering
Astead is a big piece of why our country is in the mess it’s in. He peddled a narrative that got him views and spun our nation into an authoritarian nightmare.

A weekly, interviewer-led deep dive into American politics and public policy that blends current-events discussion with historical context, data-driven insights, and ground-level reporting. Episodes frequently tackle affordability, immigration, democracy, AI's impact on work, and the evolving media landscape, often pairing the host with policymakers, historians, journalists, and cultural critics to surface practical implications for voters and stakeholders. Notable is the show's effort to move beyond Trump-centered discourse by foregrounding everyday concerns, policy tradeoffs, and long-term trajectories, while weaving in on-the-ground reporting and audience-facing exercises to gauge real-world sentiment.
