  • Leftie political hints, meh

Enjoyed listening when it was actually about longevity, but more and more often Jeff makes his leftists opinions come to surface, and I simply lost my desire to hear his views. I can get the same info in dozen other places in podcast world, without the WOKE political hints. Bye Jeff, nice knowing ya.

  • Offbeat

Some of the topics are getting off beat lately(footwear, evolutionary psychology), feels a bit bro culture. And feels a bit weird having a male discuss women’s issues such as menopause. I just get a funny feeling from the podcast lately.

  • Fantastic find

Jeff really knows this space thoroughly. This is a well curated podcast with interesting guests and important topics. Jeff is a superb host with a soothing voice, but most importantly, he is able to work with his guest in harmony to succinctly deliver the most critical information from subjects that can appear dense.

Brain Defenders: Reversing Alzheimer’s Risk with Dr. David Perlmutter
Q: What practical levers can people use to upgrade their brain metabolism?
Diet focusing on blood sugar control, sleep, exercise (especially resistance training for BDNF), stress management, circadian rhythm optimization, and appropriate supplementation like vitamin D, omega-3s, and certain B vitamins.
Brain Defenders: Reversing Alzheimer’s Risk with Dr. David Perlmutter
Q: Help me make the connection between metabolism and the brain's immune system.
Metabolic health directly affects microglial cell function: when metabolism is compromised, microglia shift from supportive to destructive, driving neuroinflammation and impaired energy production in neurons.
Brain Defenders: Reversing Alzheimer’s Risk with Dr. David Perlmutter
Q: Let's look at some of the primary causes of insulin resistance. What other culprits contribute to this problem besides the standard American diet?
The Western/global diet with ultra-processed foods is a major driver, but lifestyle factors like sedentary behavior, sleep disruption, and overall metabolic health play key roles in insulin resistance and subsequent brain energy problems.
Menopause, Hormones, and Spiritual Healing with Gabby Bernstein
Q: And how do you get from that place to the place you are now? What are the practices or the bridge?
The bridge is a continuous practice of spiritual work: daily meditation and prayer, listening to intuition, seeking help when needed, regular therapy, and building a life that aligns with inner guidance rather than old protective patterns.
Menopause, Hormones, and Spiritual Healing with Gabby Bernstein
Q: What was most surprising to you spiritually and psychologically about this transition?
The spiritual shakedown revealed parts of the self that could no longer be sustained, prompting a reevaluation of identity and a pivot toward healing, faith, and deeper self-trust.
