In the context of his proposed budget for 2026, Mayor Mike Johnston has announced plans to shut down two shelters, saving the city $11 million. But that’s still far from enough to cover the $250 million shortfall between 2025 and 2026. The mayor crit... more

Have followed this podcast for a couple of years and i do still believe it’s a great daily discussion of what’s going on in town.
However… Some of the platformed guests are baffling (e.g a multipart series punching up Boebert who pretty clearly just hates denver, you know, the topic of the show and the city we live in) and Paul feels like he’s actively striving to be a contrarian anytime something remotely hot button comes up. It’s frustrating because when the show is good, it’s very good. Not ... more
Fabulous and informative pod. I never miss an episode. I love the diverse opinions and the ability to stay up-to-date with the news in my community. I appreciate all the hosts and I’m grateful that this podcast exists. Thank you for all that you do and for bringing your authentic selves to the listeners. We don’t need fakey fakey people, so keep being you!
I moved to Denver and I started listening to this. They have such a AWFUL pulse on the city, they cozy up to politicians for interviews and tend to sugar coat things and paint ppl who don’t agree with them politically as monsters. They are so out of touch it’s scary. They literally made a podcast about the bridge proposal everyone hates on why it’ll be great. They’re like government sponsored propaganda. I think they live in bubbles and don’t really look at things in a balanced manner. This show... more
The Denver City Cast team does a great job in reporting what’s happening in and around Denver. Often covering issues and topics that the local mainstream media ignores. I’m honestly surprised the rating is as low as it is, as their production and reporting is high quality. I guess some people don’t want to listen to differing political perspectives and take offense easily. Thanks for the hard work Bree, Paul and team!
It’s great having a locally produced and locally oriented podcast. Denver has done a great job of changing its image from a cowtown and “Queen City of the Plains” to “vibrant mountain town.” (FYI: Denver is a plains city and it’s got a lot of Midwest influence, but let’s refrain from being pedantic).
The problem with this podcast is is exemplified why the city and the region are in decline after decades of growth: it ignores the many problems / “areas of opportunity” found here.
