在保羅的書信裏，只有提摩太前後書開頭的問安說到神的憐憫。神的憐憫比神的恩典達到的更遠。在召會墮落的光景中，神的憐憫是需要的。這憐憫帶進神豐富的恩典，彀應對任何的墮落。（提摩太後書生命讀經，二頁。）

義是將人所當得的給人；憐憫〔太五7〕是將優於人所當得的給人。為著諸天的國，我們不僅需要是義的，還需要是憐憫人的。蒙憐憫是得著我們所不當得的。我們若憐憫別人，主就要憐憫我們，（提後一16，18，）特別要在祂的審判臺前憐憫我們。（雅二12～13。）
馬太五章七節給我們的應許是，憐憫人的人必蒙憐憫。…所以，我們對待自己該嚴格，對待別人卻該富於憐憫。這也是與我們裏面的所是有關的事。（新約總論第六冊，一七○頁。）

基督成為人，並且在地上生活為人，經過人生一切的苦難。〔來二17。〕…祂知道如何憐憫人，因祂是有人生經歷，就是有人生苦難經歷的人。
為了有資格作大祭司，基督成為肉體，與我們一樣。我們甚至可以說，祂不只是與我們一樣，因為祂在為人生活中遭遇了我們所沒有遭遇過的事。祂成了和我們一樣的，同情我們一切的軟弱。
甚至如今，雖然我們得救了，但在有些方面，我們的光景仍需要主的憐憫搆到我們。因這緣故，希伯來四章十六節說，我們首先需要受憐憫，然後纔能得恩典，作應時的幫助。基督的憐憫對我們總是便利的。... more

羅馬九章…啟示的原則乃是，一切皆是神的憐憫。使徒把這一個原則應用在以色列人身上。叫我們看見一切發生在以色列人身上的事，都是出於神的憐憫。
十六節說，『這不在於那定意的，也不在於那奔跑的，只在於那施憐憫的神。』熱心與追求並沒有用，…等太久或不等，跑得太快或者跑得太慢，都沒有用。在這裏、在那裏，多聽、少聽，都沒有用；一切都在於神的憐憫。只有聖靈纔能引領人到正確的地步。你…起碼要有一次專一的看見，一切在於神的憐憫。不論你是一次的看見，或是經過一段過程的看見，當你摸到這件事，就會有一個事實... more
