So my name is Jason Israel and I’m a father of 3 with an amazing wife. I have tried a million and one past times. I was a runner along time ago. Do to my injuries from my military career I have stopped. Now when I start I always think about how I was as a runner. Then I quit again feeling bad for myself. You two amazing men have taught me so much. How to give myself a break and do it because I love running. I will never run a 3 min km anymore, but now I run because I love it. Keep doing what you... more

I am enjoying the podcast so far. I want to say that a great way to build self-esteem in your girls is to mention things they are great at, challenges they pushed through, how strong and capable they are, and to not make their looks too much of a focus. Food is good for the body and soul, let them enjoy snacks in rides or runs. We all deserve to nourish our bodies, it is what makes us strong.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Breaking Barriers: Brittany Aalders at The Chiggy Ultra
Q: What did you learn about yourself during the race?
She learned that she thrived with support, that teamwork matters even in individual events, and that the mental barrier is as crucial as the physical one, with a pacer and volunteers playing key roles.
Breaking Barriers: Brittany Aalders at The Chiggy Ultra
Q: What were your expectations going into the Chiggy Ultra and how did you pace yourself?
She aimed to complete 100 miles safely, pacing to finish rather than sprinting early, and she planned for the possibility of not finishing if burnout hit, ultimately finishing with energy left.
Breaking Barriers: Brittany Aalders at The Chiggy Ultra
Q: How did you get into running and what drew you to trail running?
Her brother Brandon's marathon success sparked her start in running; she began with marathons, then moved to ultrarunning, embracing the挑战 as she grew more committed.
Coach Jonathan van Geuns
Q: How would you describe Waybound Running's philosophy and what makes it different from other coaches?
Waybound Running focuses on the person behind the data, emphasizing a holistic approach that accounts for life events, stress, and nervous-system regulation, not just training metrics; the coach-athlete relationship and matching personalities are key to effective coaching.
Coach Jonathan van Geuns
Q: What drew you to trail running and how did you start coaching?
I fell in love with being on the trails during early long-distance mountain attempts, moved into formal coaching about a year ago, and found it energizing rather than draining, which led me to make coaching my primary work while still keeping some of my other professional interests.
