So my name is Jason Israel and I’m a father of 3 with an amazing wife. I have tried a million and one past times. I was a runner along time ago. Do to my injuries from my military career I have stopped. Now when I start I always think about how I was as a runner. Then I quit again feeling bad for myself. You two amazing men have taught me so much. How to give myself a break and do it because I love running. I will never run a 3 min km anymore, but now I run because I love it. Keep doing what you... more

I am enjoying the podcast so far. I want to say that a great way to build self-esteem in your girls is to mention things they are great at, challenges they pushed through, how strong and capable they are, and to not make their looks too much of a focus. Food is good for the body and soul, let them enjoy snacks in rides or runs. We all deserve to nourish our bodies, it is what makes us strong.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Amber Hachey on Running with Joy
Q: What is it like being involved in race directing and helping others have a great day?
Amber describes race directing as exhilarating and more about creating experiences and memories than simply hosting a race, focusing on supportive environments, unexpected moments, and the joy of seeing participants grow and feel welcomed.
Amber Hachey on Running with Joy
Q: What led you to run Canyons and what was that experience like given the conditions?
She details choosing Canyons partly because Madeira was disrupted by wildfires, the heat and weather challenges, wearing cold-weather gear due to unexpected snow and rain, and finishing a long, grueling day that nevertheless offered stunning scenery and a sense of achievement.
Amber Hachey on Running with Joy
Q: Tell us your running story. What is it that you love about trail running?
Amber discusses growing up active in multiple sports, initially viewing running as punishment, then discovering joy through hiking with dogs and transitioning to trail running with friends and mentors. She explains how life changes, getting introduced to Candy Cross, and joining a community helped her fall in love with longer distances and the joy of the sport.
Mauricio Diaz on Running around the World with Aire Libre
Q: How did Mauricio first get into running and what drew him to trail running?
Mauricio explains a typical running journey that started in his youth in Mexico City, shifted to college where he studied internationally, and evolved from road racing to discovering the magic of nature and trail running, which eventually led to a passion for adventure-driven experiences.
Nicholas Richards Two Time Winner of the Keji Backyard Ultra
Q: What was your training approach this year compared to last year?
This year focused more on mental resilience and controlled volume, with weekday reps limited to about 10K and a lot of monotonous, progression-free runs to build mental endurance, while last year emphasized higher weekly volume and training at work to build endurance.
