So my name is Jason Israel and I’m a father of 3 with an amazing wife. I have tried a million and one past times. I was a runner along time ago. Do to my injuries from my military career I have stopped. Now when I start I always think about how I was as a runner. Then I quit again feeling bad for myself. You two amazing men have taught me so much. How to give myself a break and do it because I love running. I will never run a 3 min km anymore, but now I run because I love it. Keep doing what you... more

I am enjoying the podcast so far. I want to say that a great way to build self-esteem in your girls is to mention things they are great at, challenges they pushed through, how strong and capable they are, and to not make their looks too much of a focus. Food is good for the body and soul, let them enjoy snacks in rides or runs. We all deserve to nourish our bodies, it is what makes us strong.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Nicholas Richards Two Time Winner of the Keji Backyard Ultra
Q: What was your training approach this year compared to last year?
This year focused more on mental resilience and controlled volume, with weekday reps limited to about 10K and a lot of monotonous, progression-free runs to build mental endurance, while last year emphasized higher weekly volume and training at work to build endurance.
Jesse Wright The Fridge Guy
Q: How has the fridge project evolved into a charitable effort?
The guest describes setting goals to raise money for Pulse and later surpassing $10,000, the process of incorporating as a charity, and plans to register with CRA. He emphasizes community engagement and the shift from a stunt to a sustainable, impact-focused initiative.
Jesse Wright The Fridge Guy
Q: What was the genesis of carrying a fridge on your back during runs?
He recalls seeing Operation Feed materials and a charity impulse, a moment of empathy after seeing a person struggling with food insecurity, and a Burger King late-night reflection that sparked the idea. A fridge and backpack were acquired, and the project slowly took shape before becoming a philanthropic endeavor.
Jesse Wright The Fridge Guy
Q: How did you get into trail running?
Jesse explains he started as a hiker and camper, discovered local trails, and gradually built back into running through the Fondi footpath project and then the SJTR. The discussion covers how the routine of training and exploring the city fed his passion for trails.
Flip the Switch with Ryan Keeping
Q: What drew you to Iceland for this record attempt?
I was drawn by the landscape, the challenge, and the idea that Iceland would push me like nowhere else; I looked up the fastest known time and believed I could break it, assembling a team and preparing for a multi-month lead-up.
