  • Lost a listener

Used to love this show. After a couple episodes ago where you went on a rant about “purple hair people” my kid who was riding in the car asked why a Christian man was talking poorly and verbally bullying someone. I turned the episode off and couldn’t finish it. Then I was listening to your next episode today for you to go on another rant about how Christian guys could talk poorly and lie about you. Best of luck. Unsubscribed.

  • Ego gets in the way of a great podcast

Don and Terry put out some great tips and information. The constant rants on young guys, politics, and building up of themselves to I guess seem more credible really gets in the way of this being a great podcast. If you can wade through the ego talks and rants against others to get to the actual content there’s some good info to listen to.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Why BIG BUCK Areas Often FAIL Deer Hunters | Chasing Giants 327
Q: Are you looking for an area that has produced giants in the past, or is layout and property design more important when choosing a property?
Layout and the ability to control buck age structure over time are more important than past production alone; a well-designed property can outperform a neighborhood known for big deer because it can sustain older, selective bucks.
Why BIG BUCK Areas Often FAIL Deer Hunters | Chasing Giants 327
Q: When you started figuring out how to target mature bucks, what were some of the key things you looked for that most people would overlook?
Hunting mature bucks requires focusing on terrain features and wind direction rather than just deer sign, and getting away from constant hunter pressure to let older bucks reach maturity; the approach shifts from sign-centric to landscape-aware planning.
#329 | Why Don Higgins Gets More Excited About July Than Opening Day
Q: What is the typical birth pattern for fawns in a mature dough and how often do twins occur?
A mature dough typically bears twins, with twins being far more common than singles or triplets; in many healthy herds, around 80% of fawns are twins, with singles or triplets making up the remainder.
Don Higgins Breaks Down His Favorite Properties of 2026 - Chasing Giants #320
Q: Don, do you have plans to add more consultants to your team, and how would a young person be considered for such a position?
Right now I'm not looking to hire anyone new, but I stress building a solid resume, gaining real mileage, and showing you can deliver; there's a lot of competition today, and experience behind the knowledge is what sets you apart.
INSANE Bedding Cover + 22 Bears on Camera?! | Chasing Giants #318
Q: Who is going to win the National Championship this year?
Don predicts Illinois or potentially Duke, with heart favoring Illinois, but acknowledges other strong teams like Michigan and Arizona could win.
