Given what we now know regarding J6 and the 299 embedded FBI agents stoking the crowd, I am not sure this show will age very well. But it’s entertaining nonetheless but you have to weigh it is produced by 2 ex-pastors (they should disclose that and why - it casts a shadow over the show IMHO.) The writing is intelligent but takes liberty with wide-sweeping generalities against Christianity at large, Charismatics specifically, the Evangelical Church in general. Having grown up in an Independent Charismatic church, this was a valuable series that tied together many familiar themes. Highly recommended!
Found the tracing of the history of different main characters interesting and well laid out at times. But the podcast was also very heavy on opinion, so the listener is left trying to fish out the facts and disentangle them from the opinion.. In historical research primary and secondary sources are always more valuable when there is less attempt to persuade and more ability to stick solid the facts.
I’m a former evangelical, now a catholic and “paleo conservative” and Trump voter. You cannot understand Trumpism and the direction of the Republican Party without understanding the NAR. It’s a powerful movement with no checks and balances.
This series was compelling and packed with great research and materials to offer an explanation for what contributed to the January 6 violence at the capitol.
