  • Grandma approved

Although my kids are raised, we are now navigating life as grandparents to 10 with two of them being adopted at age of seven and four from the foster care system. Dr. Kathy offers excellent insight into all things related to raising kids in today’s crazy culture. As a former high school teacher, I really appreciate all the knowledge she brings in an easy to understand way.

  • Entitlement

I have listened to a lot of parenting podcasts, advice, therapists etc. I was really disappointed about this episode. The good things in it were what you shared about Dr Becky’s useful perspective. Your whole show was taking her perspective and critiquing it, versus bringing your own perspective to the table on how to counter entitlement. The fact that Dr Kathy is critiquing someone who he wasn’t familiar with and obviously didn’t understand how she suggests implementing her ideas, is poor taste... more

The Dark Side of Stress: Helping Kids Cope With Boredom Without Substances - ReAir
Q: So how do we build resiliency inside of our kids, that when stress or boredom happens, they don't turn to substances to alleviate their tension, but they turn to something that actually gives them muscles to engage that tension?
Dr. Kathy explains that resiliency comes from proactive parenting: starting early with healthy stress management, modeling calm responses, engaging kids in conversations, and providing purposeful activities like physical exercise, reading, and serving others to channel tension constructively.
Why Lionel Messi and Argentina Are Showing How Fathers Matter
Q: What does the Bible say about the role of fathers and families in this context?
Scripture presents the father as a stabilizing presence who watches for his children, teaches them, and models faith and responsibility; passages like Luke 15 and Malachi 4.6 illustrate the deep impact of father-child relationships on personal and national restoration.
Why Lionel Messi and Argentina Are Showing How Fathers Matter
Q: What would a culture look like that values fatherhood and masculine leadership in a healthy way?
A culture would celebrate and demonstrate masculine leadership that is compassionate, engaged, and supportive of the mother and children; it would elevate dads as active participants in daily life and decision-making, not merely providers, and would show fathers modeling repair and vulnerability.
Why Lionel Messi and Argentina Are Showing How Fathers Matter
Q: What is your understanding of fatherhood and why is an engaged father important for kids?
God designed the family and God wins; a healthy father models protection, love for God, responsibility, and the ability to handle emotion, shame, and forgiveness. Engaged fathers provide guidance, model compassion, and help children know where they come from, which shapes their character and resilience.
Nurturing a Love for Reading: Summer Strategies for Parents - ReAir
Q: What should parents do whose kids don't enjoy reading, or how can they start their kids toward reading more?
Parents can gradually introduce reading by showing consistent reading habits themselves, choosing enjoyable and relevant books, and engaging kids with discussions about what they read to make reading feel like a shared adventure.
