  • Cows work for you

One of your best hit bullet point of my first speech cows work for us we don’t work for them. If this ruffles feathers, their feathers are not very secure. Truth is the truth. Good cows are like good employees when given the right tools. To do the job just let them do it and get out of their way surprisingly how good this works.

353: Everyone Wants to Know: When Does the Cattle Market Finally Break? with Samantha Cozza-Wright
Q: Well, Samantha, how have the markets been looking over the past week? Give us the rundown.
The market has moved to a more optimistic tone with cash and futures broadly in line, volatility has moderated, and there's a sense of stability after a period of headlines and volatility. Producers are focused on risk management and watching for how feed, drought, and export dynamics affect prices, with cautious optimism about reaching favorable levels as we approach the fall.
351: From Show Cattle to Commercial Herds, Everyone Wants Better Cattle with Taylor Sterzbach
Q: What gives you the most optimism about the cattle industry today?
A shared commitment to raising good, sustainable cattle and the increasing collaboration among producers, veterinarians, and tech providers to bring innovations that improve profitability and beef quality, with a positive narrative around beef consumption.
351: From Show Cattle to Commercial Herds, Everyone Wants Better Cattle with Taylor Sterzbach
Q: What advice would you give to young people entering agriculture who didn't grow up in it?
Leverage social media to connect, research local opportunities and industry events, and pursue scholarships or internships (e.g., NCBA, World Dairy Expo) to find mentors and build a place in the industry.
351: From Show Cattle to Commercial Herds, Everyone Wants Better Cattle with Taylor Sterzbach
Q: What are the biggest challenges producers face today and how does animal health play a role?
Challenges include disease threats like New World Screwworm, regulatory and technology shifts; animal health companies provide tools and solutions (diagnostics, pheromones, etc.) to help producers manage costs and improve animal welfare, with a focus on ROI and accessibility across regions.
351: From Show Cattle to Commercial Herds, Everyone Wants Better Cattle with Taylor Sterzbach
Q: How has the show cattle world changed in the past decade, and where do you see it going?
The show cattle world has become more competitive and fast-paced, with less downtime and a push to balance breed characteristics with market realities; Taylor expects a gradual return to preserving breed merit while still engaging junior participants and maintaining performance in the show ring.
