The terrifying words were recorded in an 1876 book by Monsignor Louis Gaston de Segur, recounting a ghastly apparition witnessed by his grandfather. But the holy de Segur wrote prolifically, and about much more than the reality of hell. In this episo... more
Ecumenism seeks to separate humanity, divided by religion to find common ground. Seems like a good ideal, but some Catholics (including many popes) were strongly opposed to it.

I think this show could be really good, however, the cadence of this guy’s speech is very distracting. It makes it hard to absorb what he’s saying.
I have found that Scott is offensive in the past, but the start of the Civil War is something that I am familiar with as a historian. His narrative is distorted going back to the tariff of abominations. This has been a favorite podcast to listen to with my children (and without). Most episodes are short enough for their attention spans, provide wonderful information on the church, and they are great conversation starters.
Thank you both for this work you’ve doing. This has become one of my favorite podcasts.
I’m an avid fan of history, and particularly of Catholic history. I’ve looked around at other Catholic history podcasts, and the majority of them are rather lacking, either focusing on largely superficial details in the lives of the saints, or looking to figures that were only nominally Catholic. Not so with this podcast, where a simple glance at the episode titles will reveal how deep they truly delve. I cannot recommend this podcast enough, to be certain!
