Share my research journey as I make my way through the many sources of information newly available about the Carlisle Indian Industrial School. Founded in 1879, Carlisle was the first off-reservation government-sponsored boarding school for Native Americans. I will be examining documentation chronologically and sharing the stories, facts, and insights I discover about the school, its staff, and mo... more

This is quality work on the forced assimilation of people marginalized by white supremacy and coloniality at Carlisle. Kate and Jim take an in depth look at anything pertaining to Carlisle and everything in between. This podcast has been very helpful as I try to learn more about Carlisle. Kate’s book, A very correct idea of our school, reproduced the images of Carlisle. She also wrote a thoughtful discussion and a detailed analysis on Carlisle. I would recommend both if you are interested in Car... more
This is a hard topic and yet important for the abuse to stop
The US Government is corrupt still just see how the MKultra program was used.
Good work
Appreciate that this archive was created and is being shared. As a Native person sometimes I find the dry language insensitive but having worked in museum archives know they are not considering indigenous peoples feelings but are responding as non-Native archivists. The volume on all the episodes is way too low, please amplify. Overall a very important podcast and I’ve just purchased Theimer’s book. Looking forward to learning more.
Solid historical exploration!
