  • A fun and informative listen

Brings me back to when I was 10-12 years old. Great fun hanging out with Rick and Bob and rapping Cap. An oasis in the podcast world from the politics and the stress.

  • These guys know Cap like no one else

I became a fan of Cap back in 2011 when the first MCU Cap movie came out. I started reading Captain America comics back in July, starting with the original Tales of Suspense stories and found you guys when I was looking around for YouTube videos talking about those issues.

Needless to say, I absolutely loved listening to you guys break down the issues as I read through them and subscribed to your channel immediately! I listen to it as a podcast when commuting to and from work. You guys truly g... more

  • Cap Would Be Proud

I came for the J. Michael Straczynski interview. As a comic book creator myself, I am intensely interested in getting inside the head of other creators. But I stayed for the love of Captain America and the love for the medium in general. These gentlemen understand Cap in ways a lot of people miss. I’ll definitely keep coming back.

  • For every Cap fan!

If you like any incarnation of Captain America, this podcast is for you! Each episode dives into the origins of the characters; good guys, bad guys, villains (listen to the Top 10 list to understand the difference). This has quickly become my favorite podcast.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

#273: Declassified! Interview with Writers of Captain America: Steve Rogers Declassified
Q: What was the division of labor like between the two of you when writing this?
We collaborated by mapping out the chapters with Marvel's input, decided who would write which chapters, and used the interview format to let Steve speak through the questions. It was a joint process where one of us would guide a given section while the other contributed context and voice to keep the interview cohesive.
#273: Declassified! Interview with Writers of Captain America: Steve Rogers Declassified
Q: How did you approach writing this book—did you start with questions or with stories to anchor the Q&A?
We started by outlining a framework with significant runs and milestone events, then divided chapters and assigned who would write which parts. The questions were then shaped to fit those arcs, ensuring Steve's voice emerged in a natural, question-driven way without simply recapping events.
#277: Writer Fred Van Lente Raps Cap!
Q: So what I was curious about is how did you prepare for writing the Captain America First Avenger prequel—did you get to peek at the film or script beforehand?
Fred describes getting access to a script through Marvel Studios under tight security, with more involvement from the Howling Commandos and Erskine, and explains that the screenplay—not the final film—served as the basis for the comic, while also noting the era's fluid creative boundaries.
#230: Interview with Karl Kesel, Prolific Writer and Inker!
Q: What projects are you currently working on?
I'm currently busy with Impossible Jones and will soon fulfill my latest Kickstarter for the book.
#230: Interview with Karl Kesel, Prolific Writer and Inker!
Q: How do you balance quiet moments and action in your writing?
It's instinctive for me; I focus on pacing and creativity, allowing for moments of humor and action as they fit the story.
