  • Don’t look down on PCPs!

I think this is a great educational podcast but I would encourage the doctors to maybe do some work on their attitude toward primary care providers. Us PCPs work really hard to care for our patients and it seems like these docs expect all patients to be seeing specialists for everything which isn’t necessary or even possible! Please try to have some more positive language and attitude toward your hard-working PCPs!

The Truth About Diminished Ovarian Reserve: IVF Expectations & Menopause Risk – Part 2
Q: I have an AMH of 0.5 and I'm 31. My doctor says I should freeze my eggs immediately, but I'm not in a relationship and can't afford IVF right now. What should I do?
The doctors acknowledge that sooner is generally better, but immediate action isn't mandatory. Start with a consultation to understand the full picture, consider antral follicle counts alongside AMH for more info, and explore financial options like payment plans and workplace benefits. Don't let cost be the sole barrier; map a plan first and then address finances.
PCOS: The Hormonal Group Chat Gone Wrong
Q: Does PCOS always mean higher miscarriage risk and poor egg quality, or can women with PCOS have successful pregnancies without fertility treatments?
While PCOS is associated with irregular ovulation and increased infertility risk, many women with PCOS conceive with or without treatment, depending on individual ovarian reserve, metabolic health, and underlying factors. A full workup and optimization of health factors are key before or during conception.
PMOS (formerly known as PCOS) Part 2: Connecting the Hormonal Dots
Q: If I'm not trying to get pregnant right now, do I still need to do anything about PCOS?
Yes. PCOS has long-term metabolic and cardiovascular implications; regular periods and metabolic monitoring, along with symptom management, are important regardless of fertility plans.
PMOS (formerly known as PCOS) Part 2: Connecting the Hormonal Dots
Q: What kind of doctor should follow my PCOS long-term?
A multidisciplinary approach is best, possibly involving an OB-GYN, an endocrinologist, dermatology for skin/hair changes, and nutrition/mental health professionals, with one clinician driving the long-term plan.
PMOS (formerly known as PCOS) Part 2: Connecting the Hormonal Dots
Q: I've spent years being told my symptoms are because of weight. What if weight gain is a symptom itself, not the cause?
Weight can be part of the hormonal and metabolic picture in PCOS, and approaching care requires evaluating ovulation regularity, androgen levels, and insulin resistance rather than blaming weight alone; a holistic plan is needed.
