  • Love the show!

Thanks for the common sense, fun to listen to show. I have been a football fan forever - my dad did the stats for Bear Bryant back in the sixties; we went to every Alabama home game and bowl game every year. I went to school up north and sometimes had to follow football over the phone with play by play delivered by Dad. When working in Europe in the 90s I scoured the International Herald Tribune for scores and rare two sentence updates on season updates.

Fast forward to today and there is the... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

How Kennesaw State's Jerry Mack Keeps Winning Championships
Q: What was the key to turning around a 2-10 team into conference champions in one year?
The answer lay in a comprehensive rebuild: recruit the right staff with prior success, establish clear academic and cultural standards from day one, leverage a structured approach to nutrition and recovery, and implement a system that fits the players while preparing them for the level of competition they face. Analytics informed on-field decisions, but people and culture were the foundation.
Nicole Auerbach Talks Tournament Reactions, Picks + More
Q: What are the biggest changes you've noticed in how brackets are formed with the new metrics and conference realignment?
The guests discuss how improved metrics like wins above bubble and better seeding lead to fewer mid-major upsets but more accurate outcomes, while realignment changes which teams get at-large bids and how that affects long-term parity.
Nicole Auerbach Talks Tournament Reactions, Picks + More
Q: Nicole, what's your pick for the region in DC?
Nicole leans Michigan State in that region, citing the team's consistency and Izzo's postseason track record, while acknowledging Duke and UConn as formidable contenders.
Jim Mora On Colorado State, PLAYOFFS!? Backstory + Josh Rosen's Hot Tub
Q: Last TV show that you binged?
The last show Mora mentions is The Landman, and he also talks about enjoying the Bill Walsh-influenced coaching philosophy as a broader inspiration.
Charles Huff On Coaching Saquon, Saban Stories + Memphis Plans
Q: What was the biggest takeaway from working under Nick Saban during your time at Alabama?
The biggest takeaway was Saban's relentless attention to detail and organizational discipline. He ran the program with a precision that made every day feel like a game plan meeting—door-to-door thorough in recruiting and in preparing game plans—leaving Huff with a blueprint for meticulous preparation and accountability.
