  • RANGE!

As a top 1% podcast host myself, I was very interested in the recent episode on hosting a live podcast! Always helpful to hear what goes on in the backend and what the results looked like! But there are SO many topics covered here that any biz owner will find value. I think a lot of podcasts lately have niched down, so I love seeing on stop biz podcasts!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

From The Vault: Weaving Play Into Life and Business with Emma Worrollo
Q: When did you decide to turn Playful Den into a business, and what were the first concrete steps you took?
I started treating Playful Den as a business around lockdown, moving from content creation to branding, services, and even a Patreon. The first steps were getting a logo and branding and launching services quickly to test the market, then gradually expanding into coaching, courses, and eventually products.
From The Vault: How Madlug Is Using Bags To Impact Lives With Dave Linton
Q: What marketing approaches have worked for you, and what hasn't, given you've prioritized storytelling over paid ads?
The team leaned heavily on organic, story-led marketing rather than traditional paid campaigns, invested in video/photography content, and later combined with a selective ad agency while keeping the core message simple and shareable through the 60-second pitch.
From The Vault: How Madlug Is Using Bags To Impact Lives With Dave Linton
Q: So when you realized there was this problem you wanted to solve, how quickly did the business idea come together, and what was that process like?
Dave describes moving from a charity mindset to a for-profit social enterprise, mapping a path from identifying the problem (bin bags for kids in care) to envisioning a sustainable model (buy one, give one) and then testing ideas through journaling, branding choices, and early design decisions before landing on a viable brand and product lineup.
Protecting Your Brand in the Age of AI with Ingrid Fernandez
Q: What else might people need to consider including in their contracts regarding AI and privacy?
Include privacy policy updates, third-party data sharing disclosures, and a clause about consent for using a designer's work to train AI models; also consider restrictions on how clients may reuse or alter the designer's outputs, and establish a review cadence for updating documents as AI capabilities evolve.
Protecting Your Brand in the Age of AI with Ingrid Fernandez
Q: Maybe you can chat us through what are some of the key points that people need to start thinking about when it comes to covering themselves legally.
Key points include giving clear boundaries on AI usage within internal processes and communications, ensuring client information isn't fed into AI tools, updating privacy policies to reflect third-party data sharing, and adding specific clauses to contracts that govern how the designer's work can be used or modified, with a focus on protecting both the client and the designer.
