David Kerekes and Movies That Changed Your Life: Two Lane Blacktop, Fight Club & Faces Of Death / Schramm
Q: Tell us why Two Lane Blacktop is such a memorable film for you and what impact it had on your life.
Two Lane Blacktop felt like it came from nowhere and presented a stripped-down road movie with minimal dialogue, existing as a vivid, almost tactile experience that spoke to wanting to break out of a fixed life and observe the world from the driver's seat of a car in motion.
Alexia Melocchi and Movies That Changed Your Life: Basic Instinct, Bridget Jones Diary & La La Land
Q: But tell me, why La La Land? What memories does it hold for you?
She discusses being involved in financing and witnessing the film's journey, the ending's emotional resonance during a divorce, and how the film encapsulates the pursuit of art and the reality of relationships in Hollywood.
Alexia Melocchi and Movies That Changed Your Life: Basic Instinct, Bridget Jones Diary & La La Land
Q: And tell me why Basic Instinct is such a memorable film for you and what impact did it have on you?
She reflects on her early career in distribution, the high-stakes atmosphere of buying films, and how the movie signified her entry into Hollywood and the film business, marking a personal milestone.
Alexia Melocchi and Movies That Changed Your Life: Basic Instinct, Bridget Jones Diary & La La Land
Q: Tell me, Alexia, why is Bridget Jones Diary a film that had impacts on you and what are its memories?
She relates to the film as a relatable, humorous portrait of modern romance, career versus love, and personal growth, spotlighting British storytelling that captures authentic human interaction and characters navigating love and life.
Jeremiah Kipp and Movies That Changed Your Life: Killer Of Sheep, Dawn Of The Dead & Jennifer's Body
Q: But tell me, why is Killer Of Sheep such an important film and had so much impact on you?
It showed that you can convey profound social reality through intimate, character-driven incidents rather than a conventional plot, making poverty and resilience feel immediate and poetic, which deeply influenced my own approach to storytelling.
