  • Fix my daughter’s sleep

After listening to a few different episodes on sleep pressure and unique sleep needs, I was able to fix my 4 month’s old night time sleep within a week! From 6 or 7 wakes ups, to just 2 for feeds. And I’m not even a member of Sombelle (yet)! Highly recommended

Do yourself a favour and listen to this balanced, supportive, empowering and clear podcast that helps you weave through all the misinformation spread online. We have had great success transitioning from bouncing and feeding to sleep to supportive cot settling without any big cries! Cannot recommend this more highly 🙌

  • Unfollow everyone else

Clear, kind and legitimately evidence-based infant sleep advice from properly qualified professionals. Each episode feels like the warmest parenting pep talk! Highly recommend to all families with babies and toddlers who are hoping for a better night’s sleep, but feel lost in the noise and conflicting advice from social media, health workers, relatives and friends.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 118: Fixing False Starts
Q: Adrienne asks about stopping co-sleeping after a habit-forming pattern with a 15-month-old.
Implement a clear, consistent cot-settling plan, gradually fading hands-on support, and prepare for some protests while ensuring safety; consider a staged approach with a caregiver consistency to foster self-settling.
Episode 118: Fixing False Starts
Q: Katie asks whether to move bedtime earlier on short-nap days or push through to the usual bedtime.
If aiming to preserve a longer daytime nap, keep the overall circadian rhythm intact by maintaining bedtime and working on a longer daytime nap; if the child is consistently exhausted, consider a slight bedtime adjustment to support the nap structure.
Episode 118: Fixing False Starts
Q: Kate asks if frequent night waking and false starts could be related to sleep pressure and whether to adjust day sleep or wake windows.
Yes, transitioning toward the appropriate number of daytime naps for the child's age can resolve sleep pressure issues and improve nighttime sleep, with guidance to adjust nap duration and last wake window to optimize the buildup of sleep pressure.
Episode 117: Fixing the 5am wake up
Q: How can parents fix early rising?
Start with a full 24‑hour sleep assessment to understand each child's needs, audit the sleep environment (light, noise), avoid treating 5:00 AM wakings as morning, implement staged changes to bedtimes and wake times, and give the circadian system time to adjust before reassessing.
Episode 116: Yes, you can wake your sleeping child
Q: Jess asks whether the six-month-old who is waking every two hours might benefit from dropping a nap or adjusting bedtime to reduce overnight wakes.
The host advises moving toward two naps, aligning the daily rhythm with the child's sleep needs, and avoiding feeding to sleep too often at night, which reinforces night waking. If necessary, gradually reducing night feeds and encouraging awake nights can help reset sleep patterns.
