Over twenty consecutive months, Charles Dickens enthralled readers with his monthly installments of the novel Bleak House, a complex and compelling portrayal of the English judicial system. Serialized in his own magazine, Household Words, between 1852 and 1853, the book is deemed to be his finest work and is his ninth novel. Beautifully read and 'performed' most excellently, with realistic voices that brought Dickens' characters to dramatic life. I felt like I was living the story, every spare moment I found, listening to this intriguing book. I would never pick up a classic like this to read so I am forever grateful that it was available to listen to.
Mil speaks with clearly and with such conviction. I have thoroughly enjoyed this reading, very well done indeed.
What a treat to have this Dickens classic read (or rather performed) so well - and for free. Thank you!
I can’t understand why this has been given low star ratings by some listeners. I can only assume they don’t like Bleak House as a novel or Dickens as a writer - which I can understand - but the narration is faultless. Judged for its quality as an audiobook, it’s brilliant and easily as good as the paid-for versions.
An excellent audiobook! The voices of all the various characters is so well done.
There’s no point rating the book. It’s Dickens. It’s wonderful. What I am so excited about is Ms. Nicholson’s narration on podcast form.
She is just the BEST narrator of Dickens I have ever heard. I can honestly say her dramatisation (it’s more than just narration) has made these books magical for me. I can’t say how much I enjoy it!
