Thanks Shellie and Kemi! I am so grateful for this podcast which helped me to ground myself in the biology of birth when I went over my estimated due date with my 2nd child. I was questioning lots of things and they were answered on this podcast - the best for deep-diving into the magic of the science (which we are not usually taught!!!). I went on to have a swift calm empowering homebirth :))
Shellie has nailed it with her detailed description of how the human anatomy works with the placenta and the umbilical cord and what happens when a baby is born between the time a baby goes from receiving oxygenated blood through the placenta and using their lungs. You can feel how absolutely fascinated both of them are which makes the listening more enjoyable.
