Bird feeders can be beneficial for birds by providing food, but poorly maintained feeders can lead to health issues and dependency.

Birds have feathers over their ears to help funnel sound into their inner ear and to keep dust and debris out, which actually enhances their hearing capabilities.

Most birds dip their heads to fill their bills with water and then flick it back to swallow, while pigeons and doves can suck up water using their bills as straws.

Q: What is a bird behavior commonly misinterpreted by people?
A common misconception is that pelicans can store fish in their bills for up to a week; however, their pouch acts like a fishing net instead.
