  • Episode 243

For over ten years, I have been troubled with the state of decline Canada has been in. It has brought me to the same conclusions as Aaron so eloquently summarizes in episode 243. This podcast NEEDS to be heard. Democracy is not a noun, it is a verb.

  • Super impressive and brave

I have listened to several podcasts and every episode has been outstanding. Aaron is the adult in the room. As a sitting Chief he knows the issues and argues fairly and maturely. I’ll be honest, I thought everyone connected with some of these issues was a conman looking for easy money and power. Aaron is not that. Thank you for being one of the best leaders in Canada today.

  • Refreshing and Informative

Highly recommend. Aaron Pete treats every topic with respect and curiosity, going out of his way to avoid straw-manning any viewpoints. He isn’t afraid to wade into uncomfortable territory but never for the sake of controversy alone. I usually leave an episode with the feeling that I’ve learned something from his analysis. In this highly polarized political and cultural landscape, this is absolutely a show worth adding to your library.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

246. Bruce McIvor: Private Property VS. Aboriginal Title? Aboriginal Lawyer Explains
Q: What role do court decisions like Cowichan play in public perception and policy?
Court decisions clarify legal principles, but misrepresentation of those outcomes by politicians and pundits fuels hostility and undermines constructive dialogue; the courts are there to guide law, not to resolve political strategy.
246. Bruce McIvor: Private Property VS. Aboriginal Title? Aboriginal Lawyer Explains
Q: You've raised concerns about reconciliation being more aspirational than actionable. Why is that a problem?
Because aspirational language delays implementing rights and undermines trust; without real follow-through, commitments remain empty promises and the reconciliation process loses legitimacy.
240. Chief Billy Morin: Conservative MP on Poilievre, Carney & Indigenous Politics
Q: What are your thoughts on Pierre Poilievre?
Pierre Poilievre is viewed as a pragmatic, results-oriented leader who can summarize complex issues and push for real outcomes for Canadian families, including First Nations communities.
240. Chief Billy Morin: Conservative MP on Poilievre, Carney & Indigenous Politics
Q: How do you see reconciliation evolving in the future, given you think the term has been cheapened?
Reconciliation should move beyond talking points to tangible, measurable results that are anchored in economic development and governance reforms, creating a practical pathway for First Nations to achieve self-determination within a framework of accountability.
240. Chief Billy Morin: Conservative MP on Poilievre, Carney & Indigenous Politics
Q: You've talked about how First Nations don't simply need more investment from governments, that they need empowerment. Could you elaborate?
Empowerment means shifting decision-making power, reducing Ottawa bureaucratic overhead, and enabling nations to manage capital on their own terms with fewer programs and more direct funding models like long-term grants and territorial transfers.
