  • He loves thyself

The topics selected / discussed are often relevant, but Ben’s favorite guest is himself. He’ll pose a question and he’ll end up answering it himself, before segueing to his guest, “ok, quick, we only have 30 seconds left”… he just can’t seem to shake the narcissism from his E Talk days. At times, he’s insufferable.

  • Lest we forget

While I find Ben often brings balance and nuance when needed to discussions I was disappointed to listen to him and his cohost speak to Climate change at minute 5:45. Ben falsely claims “I get it it…the weather is getting crazier and I’m not denying it”. His assertion is then backed up by his mindless cohort citing “it is…absolutely it is”.

This claim runs completely counter to many scientific journals and even the IPCC itself. Have a look into Alex Epstein’s documented array of facts on Energ... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

A great day for the Victoria Cross / Why Canada is operating at a loss
Q: So it's not, you're not saying that it's because the Americans are better at building hockey teams. You're saying it's the taxes that make it harder for us in Canada to keep the players, yeah?
Correct. The tax environment affects net pay, and with high-skill workers who have mobility, teams in lower-tax regions can offer competitive compensation without inflating salaries, making it harder for Canada to retain talent.
Richard Madan -- Manitoba's voice in Washington and so much more
Q: How has your perspective on politicians changed now that you meet them in person?
In person, politicians come across as more nuanced and personable; you see their real personalities beyond the public messaging, which has made me more focused on constructive engagement rather than confrontation.
Richard Madan -- Manitoba's voice in Washington and so much more
Q: What does a typical day look like and how much autonomy do you have?
I work inside the embassy with limited federal direction; daily tasks involve Capitol Hill meetings and interdepartmental coordination to lift Manitoba's priorities, with the three A's guiding our outreach.
Richard Madan -- Manitoba's voice in Washington and so much more
Q: Talk to me about that moment when you were approached to take on this role.
It happened about two years ago through Manitoba's Premier and staff connections; they suggested representing Manitoba as a provincial envoy, recognizing a gap in advocacy and the need to put Manitoba on the map with lawmakers in Washington.
When a union picket line uses intimidation is that crossing a line?
Q: What would you say to someone who argues the picket line is essential for workers' rights, even if it causes distress to others trying to reach medical care?
The host argued that while workers' rights and grievances are important, the absence of empathy and the willingness to impede access to emergency care crosses a line, indicating a need for balance between protest and human decency, and that public accountability (including media scrutiny) may be necessary when lines are crossed.
