  • He loves thyself

The topics selected / discussed are often relevant, but Ben’s favorite guest is himself. He’ll pose a question and he’ll end up answering it himself, before segueing to his guest, “ok, quick, we only have 30 seconds left”… he just can’t seem to shake the narcissism from his E Talk days. At times, he’s insufferable.

  • Lest we forget

While I find Ben often brings balance and nuance when needed to discussions I was disappointed to listen to him and his cohost speak to Climate change at minute 5:45. Ben falsely claims “I get it it…the weather is getting crazier and I’m not denying it”. His assertion is then backed up by his mindless cohort citing “it is…absolutely it is”.

This claim runs completely counter to many scientific journals and even the IPCC itself. Have a look into Alex Epstein’s documented array of facts on Energ... more

Travis Dhanraj and the CBC connundrum/CNN apologizes

The guest suggests measurable reforms: independent reviews, accountability metrics, openness to a broader range of voices, and leadership from government to enforce real change, not just cosmetic adjustments.
Travis Dhanraj and the CBC connundrum/CNN apologizes
Q: Can you summarize what you witnessed in terms of editorial control and the ability to interview guests on CBC shows?
Travis explains that there was a pervasive control over who could be booked, with a restrictive process that blocked many interviews, including ministers and other decision makers, which prevented a diverse range of voices from appearing on air.
Canadian comedy royalty Jeremy Hotz embarks on a national tour
Q: What did you learn from your latest MacDonald-Laurier Institute report about crime trends across the provinces?
The report shows rising violent crime severity across many provinces from 2014 to 2024, with increases in both violent and property crimes in several jurisdictions, and it argues that the criminal justice system is not performing as well as in earlier years, despite public narratives that crime is down.
Canadian comedy royalty Jeremy Hotz embarks on a national tour
Q: Professor, what are the major concerns you highlighted about indigenous over-representation and bail reform in the criminal justice system?
The concerns include persistent overrepresentation of Indigenous people in custody (over six times their population share in some provinces), the revolving door in bail and sentencing issues, and the limited effectiveness of Gladue reports and related sentencing discounts in reducing that overrepresentation, which undermines public trust in the system.
Is AI in Burger King employees ear? And MP Adam Chambers on corporate taxes and butter tarts!
Q: Adam, you're advancing a bill that would force the federal government to publicly disclose large corporate tax debt write-offs of over a million dollars. What are the chances this becomes law and why is transparency important?
Chambers explains that private member bills have relatively low chances of becoming law, but argues the proposal could push for greater accountability and visibility into which corporations owe taxes, highlighting public interest and the potential to inform policy decisions.
