I believe every person has value. Behind every headline, hustle, hard-earned moment, and family tales there’s a story worth sharing. That’s why I built Beyond the Mic. I talk with artists, athletes, authors, icons and people you need to know. I don’t do puff pieces. I ask questions that get to the real stuff: the doubts, wins, detours, and moments that shaped them. The stories that you normally do... more

  • Smart conversations that stick with you

Beyond the Mic is a great example of how short-form interviews can still go deep (although there are longer conversations, too). Sean has a real knack for making guests feel comfortable fast, which means you get thoughtful answers without the fluff.

It’s a quick listen, but there’s always something interesting, whether it’s a behind-the-scenes moment, a surprising insight, or just a really well-timed question. Perfect for when you want something sharp and engaging on your feed.

  • Most researched interviewer ever

I thought I would never hear an interviewer who did more research than Larry King, but I have to say that Sean Dillon finds information on his guests that most people would require a professional background search to achieve. Sean’s show is filled with these surprising gems that his guests are almost always thrilled to talk about. It infuses his already wonderful segments with the passion and enthusiasm that he has for storytelling and the people who are lucky enough to be on his show!

  • Gets interesting quickly

Sean turns bite-size audio interviews into highly bingable ear candy; really a great podcast that makes the most of it’s brief format. Personal favorite episodes are Stephan Pastis and the new Grant Morrison one.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Comedian Brad Williams Talks Fatherhood, Touring, and Finding Joy in Comedy
Q: What should people expect when they come see you?
High-energy, fast-paced jokes tailored for audiences who might have short attention spans, with humor that keeps coming every 10-15 seconds.
Comedian Brad Williams Talks Fatherhood, Touring, and Finding Joy in Comedy
Q: How has your daughter changed your life in the way you look at comedy?
I don't sleep as much, and I prioritize making decisions based on how they affect her; I want her to see a father who loves and supports her, and I tailor material with that in mind.
Comedian Brad Williams Talks Fatherhood, Touring, and Finding Joy in Comedy
Q: Where's your favorite place to do a show?
Comedy Works in downtown Denver; it's a perfectly designed club, plus Vegas is great for the overall experience, but Comedy Works is top for the show itself.
Comedian Brad Williams Talks Fatherhood, Touring, and Finding Joy in Comedy
Q: What's your typical Waffle House order?
All-star special with grits, extra crispy bacon, cheese on the grits, and raisin toast, with scrambled eggs; I grew up on grits and love them smothered in butter.
Comedian Brad Williams Talks Fatherhood, Touring, and Finding Joy in Comedy
Q: Best ride at Disneyland.
Rise of the Resistance is the best at Disney, with Space Mountain as a classic; but I also have a running joke about Rick Flair's line about Space Mountain being the oldest ride with the longest line.
