The I am Healthcliff line wasn’t at all explained. And as far as the abuse is concerned, read (as you Kate have) all the Greek tragedies and all the epic poems before that, and the myths and legends and narratives from Mesopotamia to Dostoyevsky to Zola to the Holocaust, it’s all relationships based on hurting and killing. Should we ban books then? I was very disappointed. Other than that I love your programme.
Great podcast, often looking at history from a feminist and/or queer perspective. The only podcast I listen to that’s consistently good.
I have a long commute and I turn to Betwixt the Sheets to keep me awake, informed and entertained while driving. This show makes history fun and fascinating.
My sister passed this podcast recommendation along and I’m so glad she did! I cannot get over the shear breadth of topics (and types of historians!) you cover and the depth you go into, but not at all in a heavy or academic way. It’s great listening and I’m surprising lots of people with my fun, if somewhat warped (to their mind), facts!! Witch-hunts in wales please!!
Kate is a hoot and she has fun exploring the bits of history that aren’t much talked about, which makes for entertaining and interesting listening.
