  • Illuminating and Fascinating

I learned so many things from Pete Brown’s interview. The history of the working men’s club was really worth knowing about, exactly the intention of this podcast. Even though I live in Canada, this podcast made me want to travel to Norwich, visit Burton-on-Trent, and drink Perry. Many episodes are highly engaging, but Brown’s humanistic interests made this one very touching.

  • Enriching and Expanding

The concept of this show is deceptively simple, but brilliantly effective because everything mentioned is already curated by the guests. It has brought so many writers, performers, and places to my attention that I would not have known about otherwise. Always interesting.

Delightful! It’s a bit like Backlisted podcast but for all stuff in addition to books. The conversations are so interesting.

  • Inspired Idea

This is such a good idea for a podcast. The host handles things excellently. It works best when the guests choose six disparate items from across their range of interests. A few guests have chosen to talk about one theme in six ways and these episodes are less interesting. I have followed up so many items as a result of listening.

Both guests converge on the Irish language as the most important to elevate, citing its beauty, cultural significance, and the need to keep it vibrant for future generations.
Emer McLysaght and Sarah Breen
Q: So you've chosen six things to discuss between you, including entertaining Ireland related facts.
They discuss the six topics with humor and nostalgia, emphasizing how each item reveals a quirky or overlooked facet of Irish culture, history, and business, and why these stories deserve broader recognition.
Charles Moore
Q: You mentioned several writers and figures from the 18th century. Which one do you think deserves more attention and why?
Moore argues that Johnson and his critical essays, along with his dictionary, deserve renewed attention for their relentless curiosity, humor, and blend of learning with human insight, which make them surprisingly modern and accessible today.
Joanna Jensen
Q: Your second choice is how your brain treats uncertainty as a threat. What's happening neurologically, and how can we manage it?
The brain defaults to a quick, low-effort certainty; making decisions—even imperfect ones—reduces stress, and moving on from endless analysis helps maintain momentum.
Joanna Jensen
Q: So you've chosen six things to discuss. Your first choice is how small, consistent actions beat sporadic big ones. So what are some of the actual things that get you closer to success?
Small actions stack over time through repetition and learning from mistakes; focus on consistent engagement with your customers and channels, and scale gradually rather than chasing flashy, one-off wins.
