Investigating Beyond the Collision: Traffic Signals, MOT, and Case Strategy
Q: Nick, for today's first question, can you give our audience a basic introduction to what maintenance of traffic and traffic signal analysis entails?
Maintenance of traffic covers work zone setup and management, while traffic signal analysis involves timing, sequencing, and compliance with MUTCD guidelines; both are used to evaluate how road work and signal operations may have contributed to a crash.
Engineering Methods in Product Liability Cases
Q: What is the final takeaway you want listeners to have from this discussion?
There are many standards and tests for different products; the mathematical and scientific work behind design is complex, so professionals can contribute valuable evaluations of incidents or defect claims, and the guest is open to future conversations as a resource.
Engineering Methods in Product Liability Cases
Q: Michael, since I kicked off product liability, can you just tell our audience what your experience and how that applies to product liability?
Michael explains his background in defense and systems engineering, emphasizing cradle-to-grave understanding of product life cycle, design, safeguards, and documentation, which informs how to evaluate incidents and potential defects.
Rig Collapse Anatomy and Resulting Legal Issues
Q: How can rig collapses be avoided during setup, drilling, completion operations, and rig down?
Rig owners must follow the manufacturer's setup procedures, and personnel must be properly trained to identify and repair deficiencies.
Rig Collapse Anatomy and Resulting Legal Issues
Q: What is a rig collapse, and can you tell us why rigs collapse?
One of the most common causes of rig collapse is rig instability, which can be caused by mechanical failure or unstable ground conditions.
