Avatar has long been one of my favorite shows because it’s values are such a strong reflection of my own. This podcast takes that love and strengthens and deepens it as it challenges me to look not only at the overarching themes, but also the smaller pieces of wisdom that can be found in details I never thought to consider. What a treasure.
This is the perfect companion piece for a watch through of ATLA and similar series (they’ve also done parts Korra and The Dragon Prince at the time of writing this). The hosts bring in great guests from the series themselves and also provide a unique perspective on every episode. Every time I think I’ve gleaned everything I can from an episode of ATLA, Ben and Sunshine prove me wrong in the most delightful ways.
I binged the all of the episodes and I have loved how much there is to learn from these “kids shows.” We are all better off for having Bending Not Breaking in our ears and I have grown as a person by listening. Keep it coming!
Great show. Love that it's not just a recap podcast of A:TLA episodes [though it briefly does that]. Additionally, there's a chosen lens which the hosts look at the episode through, and that adds an extra depth to the episode discussion. I especially love the uninformed recaps and the humor of the hosts when it arises. I usually will put on an episode as I'm going to bed, and it's just the right vibe to get me ready for sleep and thinking about how I can apply lessons from A:TLA to my life.
As a person of color I can not begin to describe the amount of admiration I have for how you handle sensitive subjects. I think you’re truthfully doing gods work.
Thank you,
Izaac
Loving all the guest on season 3. I look forward to every episode!
I love this show, it has given me so much insight into myself and how I respond to the world around me. The hosts are excellent, funny, and knowledgeable. I adore ATLA and LoK, and to be able to use these incredible shows as a vehicle for self improvement has been such wonderful thing to be a part of. Highly recommend listening, and of course if you haven’t already, watch ATLA and LoK!
Awesome show! Love the content; the discussion accompanying each episode really hits home!
With insightful educated hosts ATLA becomes a vehicle to help us learn about love, empathy, connection and so much more. This podcast has become a doorway for me to experience ATLA again as well as learn about ideas and resources for living your best life. Seriously a great podcast.
I’m a huge fan of ATLA and LOK and I’m really glad I found this podcast! The lenses y’all use have really opened my eyes and showed me things I have never noticed about the show. I’m only on book 2 but I can’t wait for y’all to cover Korra!
A new way to watch and appreciate a favorite show of mine. I tend to binge tv, and slowing down and spending time with each episode, looking for the messages and lessons in it, has given me a whole new appreciation for this show and the immense wisdom that’s packaged in it.
The podcast is much like the show—the hosts are entertaining and mostly lighthearted, but packaged in the fun discussions and silly discourse is big thoughts and ideas on how to live our lives, how to be people in this world... more
I started watching avatar because of my kids and they turned me onto this podcast. Who knew that you could learn so much from a kids show - really love the perspective this show brings and the conversations my kids are engaging with. I feel closer to my kids because of this podcast.
This is sooo wholesome! As a social worker and avatar fan - this is such a cool intersection of life and avatar. Lessons are really poignant, discussions are impactful and humorous - it’s just really great. Sound quality improves in season two - it’s just so awesome. Definitely give this a shot!
I love the level of thought and analysis put into this podcast. Avatar has made its way to Netflix in the US and this is just the podcast I needed for a long awaited rewatch.
Y’all this is just full of hope and kindness. I think anyone can listen to this and get something from it.
