Love to listen to this after each episode! My only critique is that Alicia mentioned Julianne Moore as the lead in The House of Mirth (2000), but it was actually Gillian Anderson who played Lily Bart. I used to show the film to my students, because Edith Wharton was not on the American Lit curriculum, and I wanted to fit her in. Thank you for all of your expertise and knowledge!!
Alicia and Tom are the PERFECT podcast hosts. Please bring them back for Season 4!!!
I loved watching The Guilded Age on HBOMax but I wouldn’t have enjoyed it nearly as much without this official podcast airing weekly after each episode. I learned so much about the history, the characters, the sets and costumes and the actual people whom the characters were based on from this podcast, that I otherwise wouldn’t have known by watching the show alone. I believe this podcast played a big part in ma... more
As a big fan of TCM and Alicia Malone (and her voice) I absolutely love this podcast! I’m obsessed with the show having watched it twice (so far). Can’t wait till
Next season!
This podcast is of course a delight as usual, but it was really shocking to hear the lies and spin doctoring of an ad for Senator Cornyn from Texas. The ad praised Cornyn and the 47th president for passing the so called Big Beautiful Bill. It would be wise for the podcast producers to pay attention and filter out sponsors who are directly opposed to the underlying warnings of the power and greed of the ultra wealthy featured the Gilded Age.
So entertaining to get my mind off our gov’t right now. So fascinating about American history. Your enthusiasm is contagious. Thanks for recommended readings and films.
