This is such a brilliant concept for a podcast and I have enjoyed every single episode as both a horror fiend and a cinephile.

  • An undead good time

This is such a good idea for a Romero based podcast, I’m actually kind of jealous I didn’t think of it myself. It’s a lot of fun hearing everyone’s NOTLD origins, especially since it’s my favorite movie of all time. This also means I myself have enjoyed it suffered through a lot of these offshoots myself, and I give Bede and his guests credit for crafting such entertaining discussions around even the worst of them.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

BVTLD Presents: Bede & Steve Vs. Leatherface Episode 6 - The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (2006)... "Witness The Birth Of Fear"
Q: What stood out to you about the film's portrayal of the Hewitt family and the Vietnam angle?
The guests diverge on whether the backstory enhanced or hindered the film, with some appreciating the darker, more nihilistic portrayal and others feeling the prequel element was forced and detrimental to the core tension of the original film's survivors.
BVTLD Presents: Bede & Steve Vs. Leatherface Episode 6 - The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (2006)... "Witness The Birth Of Fear"
Q: Now, John, what are your thoughts on The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Beginning?
John Harrison offers a nuanced take, acknowledging the film's technical competence and some strong performances while criticizing the rushed handling of backstory and the shift in tonal focus away from Leatherface as a character, ultimately rating it as a mixed but watchable entry in the series.
BVTLD Presents: Bede & Steve Vs. Camp Crystal Lake Bonus Episode - Interview With Adam Marcus [Director of Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday (1993)]
Q: Do you remember the first Friday The 13th film you ever saw?
Marcus talks about seeing the original film at a very young age, and later being on set at age 11, which deeply shaped his lifelong connection to the franchise.
Bede Vs. The Living Dead Episode 86 - The Escape Of The Living Dead Comics "Airbourne", "Fearbook" and "Annual"
Q: Doug, what were your thoughts on Escape Of The Living Dead Airbourne?
Doug responds that Airbourne improves on the prior series in tone and energy, though it still suffers from oversized cast and inconsistent character development; he notes the artistic style remains similar yet the three-issue arc works best when focused on Deadhead's evolving intelligence and the direct zombie action.
BVTLD Presents: Bede & Trev Vs. The Big Apple Episode 5 - Little Murders (1971)
Q: What drew you to Little Murders as a pick for the comedy segment, and what surprised you most about it?
Tom discusses his long-standing interest in Elliott Gould, the film's absurdist humor, and the unexpected pivot in the third act that defies conventional expectations of a satire, making it a memorable, underestimated gem.
