  • Banal Self Promotion

I’ve listened to episode one and it’s staggering how loquacious finance people are. The whole episode is just a verbose and vapid self promotion with no meaningful financial insights or deeper interesting educational points. It’s just waffling jovial banter with no substance. The whole thing could be summarized as, “You can totally trust me! Look how charismatic and fun loving I am”. This guy should be a politician, he answered questions for an hour and said nothing.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Why institutions are quietly buying Bitcoin
Q: What differentiates Bitcoin from Ethereum in a portfolio?
Bitcoin is viewed as a digital gold-style macro asset with potential for a long-term allocation; Ethereum is a core, tactical bet on the utility and adoption of blockchain tech, particularly through ecosystems like decentralized finance and smart contracts.
Why institutions are quietly buying Bitcoin
Q: How mature is the cryptocurrency market today?
The market is still very young and volatile, but it is maturing as more liquidity, institutional participation, and regulated products like ETFs enter the space, which helps bring down complexity and increases confidence.
Why inheriting a fortune can tear a family apart - and how to stop it
Q: What role do AI and technology play in your practice, and what changes do you foresee in the next 5–10 years?
AI will automate many routine aspects of planning and due diligence, expanding access to advice while preserving the essential human, softer skills needed for complex family dynamics. The governance framework and decision-making processes will become more sophisticated with AI-driven portfolio monitoring and look-through capabilities.
Why inheriting a fortune can tear a family apart - and how to stop it
Q: How do you approach succession and trust when taking over clients and transitioning them to younger advisors?
We view clients as belonging to the firm, not to individual advisors. Growth is managed through a capped client base per advisor and a gradual, over-service approach to transfer, supported by a firm-wide philosophy and ongoing thought leadership.
Why inheriting a fortune can tear a family apart - and how to stop it
Q: I think the first step is to understand your path into financial advice and Lipman Burgon's origin story. Could you summarize how you and Robert Lipman built the business?
We pursued true independence with no product commissions, maintained ownership separate from any product providers, and focused on high-touch, multi-generational client service. Growth came from referrals and deliberate investment in governance and an investment team to support families over generations.
