  • Banal Self Promotion

I’ve listened to episode one and it’s staggering how loquacious finance people are. The whole episode is just a verbose and vapid self promotion with no meaningful financial insights or deeper interesting educational points. It’s just waffling jovial banter with no substance. The whole thing could be summarized as, “You can totally trust me! Look how charismatic and fun loving I am”. This guy should be a politician, he answered questions for an hour and said nothing.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

J.P. Morgan warns: Overvalued USD, loose policy & real private credit risk
Q: What keeps you up at night in the current macro setup?
Traditionally, large systemic threats are feared, but the guest emphasizes specific risks like private credit distress, potential spillovers, and geopolitical catalysts such as Iran-related tensions and the evolution of fiscal and monetary policy that could alter risk assets.
J.P. Morgan warns: Overvalued USD, loose policy & real private credit risk
Q: Is Australian debt attractive or are there other regions/tapers you're finding appealing?
The guest notes Australian corporates look attractive, especially bank hybrids with higher yields, while regulatory changes may phase them out; FX-hedged versions exist, and overall they remain supportive for Australian credit exposure alongside US assets.
J.P. Morgan warns: Overvalued USD, loose policy & real private credit risk
Q: Where are you seeing opportunity right now in fixed income, currencies, and commodities?
The guest expresses a bullish view on the US labor market and economy, tilting toward securitized products over corporate credit due to valuation, and positioning along the front end of the yield curve for duration, while seeing private credit as a potential source of opportunities given existing distress and dislocations.
He interviewed 800 advisers around the world. Here's the one thing they all got wrong
Q: If Marloo succeeds, what will the advisory industry look like in 10 years?
There will be two outcomes: ultra-personalized advice at scale for those who can afford it, and improved, cheaper general advice for a broader population, enabled by AI to manage compliance and client engagement more efficiently.
He interviewed 800 advisers around the world. Here's the one thing they all got wrong
Q: What was the big fundamental problem you identified after interviewing 800 advisers?
The core issue is an economics and efficiency problem: high minimums to onboard clients and a heavy back-office/compliance burden that prevents advisors from focusing on client-facing work; AI can shift the balance toward more meaningful client interactions.
