  • Unprofessional

Luke is so arrogant and unprofessional. What’s with the swearing? Where does he think he is? Otherwise, I like the show, but Luke needs to lift his game. He might be good at his job, but I would find it difficult to trust someone with his

arrogance. He might come a cropper one day.

  • Amazon

Very disappointing that this podcast influencer promotes Amazon as his number one business he uses. Amazon doesn’t pay their workers properly , is killing the environment, killing small businesses but who cares he states it’s a great business! No ethics on this program it’s just making money and does not care about businesses and services that exploit others or is killing the environment.

Another person of privilege making money .

Owen bought a Tesla, and said it out loud. Are you tone deaf? Do not support the oligarch fascist, who represents a huge risk to the world economy and all our investments. It will not just ‘be ok’. You can’t afford to blithely ignore the biggest headwinds.

Q: Alan, let's start off this episode in maybe a slightly more unusual place. What was your first job?

Q: What Japanese ETFs do you recommend and how should an investor think about currency hedging when investing in Japan?
They review several options (vanilla Japan exposure via IJP, topix 100, and hedged/ unhedged plays like HJPN) and note that currency hedging can materially affect returns; investors should consider the currency risk and the concentration in a few megacap names, deciding between active and passive approaches for broad exposure.

Q: What are the implications of DIV 296 for a high balance SMSF, and should I tap the pension cap before the changes?
The hosts explain that DIV 296 taxes earnings over $3 million at 15% (rising for higher brackets), and earnings over $3-4 million are subject to 25-30% for certain bands; they discuss evaluating whether to use the pension cap and how cost basis resets and other tax provisions could influence long-term planning. The takeaway is not to rush decisions and to run personalized calculations.
