The premise is as simple as it sounds - each episode explores the story of an “Elizabeth” (or any derivation of that name) who is notorious; be they a murderer, a fraudster, or just a complete a-hole. These women sp... more

This podcast is fantastic. What a brilliant way to build a show—one bad Elizabeth after another. Each episode and Elizabeth is more fascinating and entertaining than the next. The hosts are hilarious and make you want to more about people you were sure you had no interest in. Enjoy.

  • Enjoying the show

This is such an original idea for a podcast. This is great for history lovers. The style of the show reminds me of a conversation between friends and if you’ve ever listened to The Rest is History podcast, you’ll know what I mean. I also have been enjoying the guest speakers, notably Jane Borden and her knowledge about Puritan culture. You should definitely check out this podcast!

  • Started off okay, but…

Listened to a few episodes and enjoyed them. Am listening to the episode on Queen Elizabeth I and am gnashing my teeth. Not a really deep knowledge of history here (Mary Queen of Scotts was her cousin not her other sister as you mentioned). The hosts try to banter back and forth but it does not work at all. For any new listeners who are new to history, this will not broaden your knowledge. Why did you save the historian until the end?

Keep working on making your episodes better.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Bad Elizabeth - Betty Broderick with Griffin Matthews
Q: What was your experience working on The Flight Attendant?
It was probably to date my favorite job that I've done, where we played flight attendants and actually flew around the world to shoot it, creating an atmosphere like adult summer camp.
Bad Elizabeth - Elizabeth Parris with Jane Borden
Q: What drew you to cults? How did you come to write this book?
Jane shares her long-standing fascination with belief systems and how they affect identity, linking her academic background in religious studies with her comedic career.
Bad Elizabeth - Lizzie Borden with Ricardo Rebelo
Q: So just to ask a little bit about Lizzie, A Day in the Life, what she did. Because this was the Victorian age. One of the defenses is that she couldn't possibly, she was a proper lady.
Lizzie was a spinster in her 30s and unmarried, which was already questionable for women back then. She had done work at the church but had issues including stealing.
Bad Elizabeth - Lizzie Borden with Ricardo Rebelo
Q: What's your take on it? Did she do it?
Based on years of studying true crime and psychological profiling, it's likely that Lizzie did it or knew who did it due to the intensity of the murder.
Bad Elizabeth - Elizabeth Holmes with E. Jean Carroll
Q: So are you going to plug your book?
It's out in bookstores, it's on Audible, it's on every sort of platform.
