  • Great learning on my commute.

I'm absolutely loving all the content! With a long commute these days, this podcast has been a fantastic companion—I’ve enjoyed nearly every episode, even those that don’t directly relate to my current ENT practice. I’ve never done endoscopic ear surgery, but after hearing the episode with Brandon Isaacson, I’m now eager to find a course or check out some of his Instagram videos. I really wish this podcast had been around during my residency. It’s incredibly well done, and the production qualit... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep. 278 Comprehensive Evaluation and Surgical Management of Nasal Septal Perforations with Dr. Oswaldo Henriquez
Q: What are the two main flap techniques you focus on for repairs, and how do you choose between them?
The anterior edmore artery flap and the GPA flap are the main options; choice depends on perforation location relative to the incisive foramen and canal, whether there is tissue support, and the surgeon's assessment of exposure and pedicle integrity during the operation.
Ep. 278 Comprehensive Evaluation and Surgical Management of Nasal Septal Perforations with Dr. Oswaldo Henriquez
Q: How do you determine if a septal perforation is suitable for repair versus conservative management?
Assess size, location, and tissue support around the perforation; anterior perforations are more amenable to repair than posterior ones, and stability over time matters; symptoms and quality-of-life impact drive the decision, along with patient willingness to undergo recovery.
Ep. 278 Comprehensive Evaluation and Surgical Management of Nasal Septal Perforations with Dr. Oswaldo Henriquez
Q: Before we get into the surgical options, can you tell us about yourself and your practice?
I've been in Atlanta for about 20 years, trained in Venezuela, did rhinology fellowships, and recently joined WellStar to develop a rhinology practice; I focus on complex sinus disease and skull-base concerns.
Ep. 277 Molecular Diagnostics for Thyroid Nodules with Dr. Erik Alexander
Q: How has molecular testing changed the management of indeterminate thyroid nodules?
Molecular testing adds a diagnostic layer that helps avoid unnecessary surgeries by providing a reliable benign read in Bethesda III/IV cases and refining risk in Bethesda V, thereby guiding whether to operate or monitor.
Ep. 276 LPR vs. LPS: Key Differences & Diagnostic Techniques with Dr. Inna Husain
Q: What is your preferred diagnostic approach when LPRD is suspected but endoscopy is normal?
Start with a thorough history and targeted laryngoscopic evaluation, then proceed with 24-hour pH impedance testing to capture both acid and non-acid reflux and to correlate with symptoms, rather than relying on BRAVO alone.
