Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Chas Collins
Q: How did co-writing influence your development as an artist?
Co-writing opened up opportunities to work with seasoned songwriters, helped him find material that fit his voice, and led to his evolution from performing covers to creating his own catalog, including collaborations like Something About the Rain and No Place I'd Rather Be.
Chas Collins
Q: How did the loss of family members within a short period shape you and your music?
The losses took wind out of his sails at first, but he kept pushing because he didn't want to disappoint his family or himself. Those experiences became a source of motivation and a way to infuse emotional depth into ballads and songs that celebrate life and community.
Lee Newton-Silver Threads and Golden Needles
Q: How did you choose Georgette Jones and Heidi Parton for collaboration?
I felt an instant connection with Georgette after meeting her in Nashville; Heidi responded with excitement, and their willingness to collaborate reflected a genuine shared history and respect for the song's legacy.
Lee Newton-Silver Threads and Golden Needles
Q: What did the song Silver Threads and Golden Needles mean to you personally when you first heard it?
It connected my childhood memories to the music I now create, and it felt like a bridge between generations, especially seeing how the song carried through family influences and the newer voices involved in the remake.
Whey Jennings - Baptized By Fire
Q: How did you come up with Baptized by Fire and what does it mean to you?
Jennings describes the concept as a reflection of his life journey—a transformation from self-inflicted hardship to a message of redemption, with the title tying together his past struggles and his faith.
