  • Certain language

Hi Dr. Shahine. I have been following this podcast for a while now and learned so much. Thank you. In the last couple of episodes, I noticed certain language that kinda makes me feel uncomfortable, and that is the use of “people with ovaries and uterus “. I felt that was catering for certain audience and not the broader audience. Maybe saying and female might cover all without excluding some. Thanks!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep 166 Is Inflammation Hijacking Your Fertility? Answers from Natalie Crawford, MD
Q: What practical steps can listeners take to reduce inflammatory burden?
Adopt a multi-pronged approach: prioritize sleep (about seven hours), engage in regular strength training, manage stress with daily practices, eat a fiber-rich, plant-forward diet with limited ultra-processed foods, and reduce toxic exposures; involve both partners in these changes for better outcomes.
Ep 166 Is Inflammation Hijacking Your Fertility? Answers from Natalie Crawford, MD
Q: How can insulin resistance be explained to patients, and why is it linked to inflammation?
Insulin resistance means cells stop responding to insulin, causing higher insulin levels that promote visceral fat and create an inflammatory milieu; this inflammation then further impacts ovarian function and egg quality, so reducing insulin resistance is a central strategy.
Ep 166 Is Inflammation Hijacking Your Fertility? Answers from Natalie Crawford, MD
Q: What is inflammation, and why does it matter for fertility?
Inflammation disrupts brain-ovary signaling, can predate disease, and negatively affects egg quality, implantation, and uterine environment, so managing it through lifestyle is a key factor in fertility health.
Ep 164 Taking Charge of Cycle Tracking with Author Dr. Toni Weschler
Q: Do you recommend that people read the book before they start using the app?
The guests suggest that the book can be used as a reference alongside the app, and that readers may read cover-to-cover but can also start with specific topics while gradually integrating the app to reinforce learning.
Ep 163 C-Section Scar and Fertility: Should Isthmocele Be Treated?
Q: What treatments are available for an isthmaceae?
The options include observation, medical management, and surgical management depending on symptoms and individual circumstances.
