Ben Stookesberry, Flow Expedition. Episode 46 of B-Flow Sessions presented by Pucon Kayak Retreat and Dagger Kayaks.
Q: How has kayak design or gear influenced your ability to run multi-day expeditions?
Gear evolution, especially in bulkheads and rocker design, dramatically improved efficiency and safety, allowing longer missions with fewer compromises.
Ben Stookesberry, Flow Expedition. Episode 46 of B-Flow Sessions presented by Pucon Kayak Retreat and Dagger Kayaks.
Q: What role did collaboration with locals and fixers play in your most significant descents?
Collaboration with local guides and fixers was essential for safety, access, and cultural context, turning potential crises into learning opportunities and enabling first descents.
Ben Stookesberry, Flow Expedition. Episode 46 of B-Flow Sessions presented by Pucon Kayak Retreat and Dagger Kayaks.
Q: How did your early Moab experiences shape your approach to flow and risk on expeditions?
They planted the seed that grit, practice, and a willingness to push limits could translate into lasting, meaningful adventures, setting the tone for a career built on big rivers and big stories.
Mary Morgan, Flow Spirit. EP. 45 of B-Flow Sessions presented by Pucon Kayak Retreat and Dagger Kayaks
Q: What is your final flow choice and who would you have with you on that last river?
I would choose the Peje Baye in Costa Rica for its powerful drops and playground-like slides, with my husband Andy, my friend Fisher, and Sophie Reynoso. I'd run the Indra boat to maximize both control and playfulness in a dream final run.
Mary Morgan, Flow Spirit. EP. 45 of B-Flow Sessions presented by Pucon Kayak Retreat and Dagger Kayaks
Q: How did you come to be on Dagger's Pro Team and what does that mean for you?
I joined the Pro Team a few years ago after moving west and connecting with the brand through ambassador work. It's been incredibly supportive not just for kayaking but personally, with opportunities like direct product testing and feedback that shape the boats we use. It also ties into the community and shared mission with team members from all levels.
