  • Love this woman!

Rachel Strickland is a communicator. In fact, I think she’s the best I’ve come across. She seems to be able to effortlessly pluck the right word from the air and slot it into a sentence, and suddenly, something you’ve been struggling with just…makes sense! I’m not a full-time performer anymore but I still listen to these podcasts because I know that whatever comes out of this woman’s mouth is fricken gold!

  • Gremlins, be gone.

If you are an artist, of any flavour, listen to this podcast. Whether you’re a seasoned professional, a wait-I-don’t-know-if-can-really-call-myself-an-artist-yet, or anywhere in between, Rachel will inform you, inspire you, and give you the confidence to go forth (audaciously!) and create whatever it is that you are here to create.

Also, Rachel’s voice pairs well with doing laundry and other household chores. Bonus!

    10/10 recommend.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 162: "The Cavalry Isn't Coming" with Adam O'Keeffe
Q: So how are you writing now? How are you structuring your creative practice?
Adam describes writing in tight, daily blocks (e.g., nine-to-ten in the morning) with a clear, achievable goal like one page per day, using busy life as a driver to create discipline and momentum rather than letting it derail him.
Episode 180: Strange Wonderful Circus Life with Ess Hödlmoser
Q: What's the truth about aging in circus, and how do you see your career evolving?
Aging is reframed as a different kind of asset; long-term sustainability and artful adaptation are valued, and Ess highlights that many colleagues continue thriving in Europe by reshaping acts and embracing changing opportunities rather than clinging to youth-focused expectations.
Episode 180: Strange Wonderful Circus Life with Ess Hödlmoser
Q: Can we talk about how the contract changed you, beyond the obvious schedule shifts?
The contract forced a re-prioritization of work and life, accelerated aging-related conversations, and pushed Ess to adapt his act to sustain 52 shows in 24 days, which significantly shaped his approach to performance and resilience.
Episode 93: Creating Shows from the Ground Up with Veronica Rosas
Q: What is a factor that really increased the value of the show and made it successful?
I think my cast and the way I chose to cast it set the tone of the show.
Episode 93: Creating Shows from the Ground Up with Veronica Rosas
Q: So, what else can you tell us about the creation process?
It was a lonely process filled with self-doubt, but it taught me that I could figure things out as I went.
